Re: My First Slingerland Kit

The bass drum is serial 101xxx, the floor tom 105xxx and smaller toms 104xxx. That makes it mid 1970s right?

Re: My First Slingerland Kit

Hello if I recall correctly there aren't serial numbers on these just a large P stamp on the inner shells.

And thanks DrumBob! I live your book by the way ...😀

Re: My First Slingerland Kit

Hello all. Bumping my original post. Sadly I am looking to sell my beloved Slingerland kit. It is circa mid 1970s. It had only one owner prior to myself. Amazing condition and ready for world. I am...

Re: Age

I would regard anything 1989 and older as vintage. Just my opinion.

Like a mid 1980s Yamaha Steve Gadd-era kit. That wold be sweet and vintage.

Re: Love selling vintage drums, hate packing to ship

Local UPS office has charged over $500 to box and ship a 4 piece kit. An expensive hassle I'll never go through again.

Re: Hal Blaine's kit for sale

Yeah, hard to justify this purchase/price for something you probably wouldn't play. Does Bennett own them or is he selling for the estate?

Though we all know Blaine, the average Joe doesn't. Not...

Re: Least HOF Worthy Bands/Artists

Wow, many that I totally disagree with. Namely Ronstadt, Joni, Nyro, Jackson Browne (pioneer of the canyon rock...Eagles etc).

Re: New Ludwig Club Date

I played the blue and white pearl ltd editions (I think they came out 2013?)? they were Chinese but sounded really good.

Re: Least HOF Worthy Bands/Artists

Yeah Bon Jovi isn't rock. They were lumped in with the hair band genre when they first were on the scene.

Queen is odd. I love a lot of their music. It seems like it was weirdly out of tune and...

Least HOF Worthy Bands/Artists

Just a random question to you on a ho-hum day: any bands or singers that made in the Rock Hall of Fame that you feel don't deserve to be there?

Though I like The Cars, the music is fun, but it's...

Re: Original or rewrap??

Interesting though, I've never seen a date stamp that legible. Especially being that old.

Re: RIP Hal Blaine

Nice story. Thanks for sharing. BTW I love your book. It was the first one I purchase when finally, FINALLY taking up drumming at the ripe age of 43. :)

Re: Hal Blaine!

I recall as a kid I'd read the writing credits, liner notes, etc on everything and would see Hal's name and think "man, this dude gets around". I think I first saw his name on a Partridge Family LP.

Re: Leedy snare drum....

I used to have one of same vintage. For the life of me it took days to see that "Leedy" inscription on the rim. Cool drum but I traded it in. Just couldn't keep it in tune. 100 years old almost ...

Re: Carl Palmer

Does anyone know the kit he used to record that first Asia album? I simply love that sound. My favorite along with Phil Ehart on Kansas' Leftoverture.

Re: Ludwig Club Date ? 100.00?

Ha, I have the same kit and also bought a 16" floor tom knowing the lugs were different but I sold it as the wraps were just way off and didn't match. Nice!!!!

Re: Camco sighting "Fanny" circa 1972

Pre-Heart so that's cool. For as much as I think I know music in my 50+ years I just learned of Fanny a few years ago. You're never too old to discover old/new music!

Re: Yamaha Recording Custom Drum Kit - 1985 Cherry Wood - $1,200

I'd love this kit if I hadn't sworn off buying any more. This is Steve Gadd-ish era no?

Re: 1976 Ludwig Big Beat shells

Also, if you are the original owner of these I would certainly state this in the ad. A nice selling point and buyer would love knowing they weren't in the hands of many others. Nice kit!
