Vintage Westbury?....Pearl?

I came across an old black kit in standard sizes, very nice...and I was quite shocked at the quality of the shells. Not luuan but a nice clear wood I assume is poplar, and they are very solid. Would...

Re: Kings drums

I did a little snooping and found a little info. These are pretty cool drums, not great but very playable because they are so darn light. Easy to carry around, toss in the back seat for a pool party,...

14" Rogers floor tom value

Rare...true, but worth 900-1100 bucks?..would you pay that because you need to complete your kit, or because it sounds like no other floor tom?

Re: Zildjian ZXT Titanium hats

I will agree for the most part, and I would never buy them for myself, but I personally don't put hats at the same level of importance as rides or crashes. As long as they sound ok I can accept that....

Re: Zildjian ZXT Titanium hats

Well, I used the hats today and was quite pleased, especially not knowing what to expect. They are not dark by any means, in fact quite the opposite. Very bright and alive so I,d say they are a real...

Re: Anyone else get disheartened at all the greed in the vintage drum market?

The smart ones who cashed in..both ways, 25 yrs ago can sit back and relax while the rest elbow each other for gear that really isin,t collectable. Having said that, the new generation will never see...

Re: Vintage Premier 303 Drums 1972 Golden Sun

I,ve owned the same finish Prem kit and they are quite remarkable. Those AM shells are out of this world, and after all these years aging away, they are soooooo mellow by now.
I have an Oly kit with...

Re: Premier Blue Shimmer drumset

I never compared hardware. If its sturdy and light[ish] its good for me. Shells are another thing. I think over many years of playing you get familiar with a certain sound you prefer.
I seem to...

Re: Premier Blue Shimmer drumset

Between Sonor teardrops and Premier AM shells, I find it hard to pick a fave. I have not owned a maple or birch kit for some time now, and after you dial your kit in, you may have the same...

Head choice

It costs a lot of money to experiment with heads now, and we know heads make a HUGE difference, so what would you use on a vintage Olympic mahogany kit used for old R&B/Motown exclusively?

Looking...

Re: Repair split heads?

Appreciate all the great feed back, and after 50 yrs of playing, I found out you can indeed repair a 2 ply head..if necessary. I agree that you should buy a new one, but when one splits on the job,...

Re: Why Do Ludwig Drums Sound So Good

"Really worked"...some may disagree, but my opinion is they didn,t get technical at all. No laser cuts, waxed edges, exotic wood from Indonesia etc. Its a primitive instrument and basic rules and...
