Re: If it weren't for the local pick-up only....

No doubt the coolest drum to ever be on Ebay I reckon! If I had the money, then this would be a toy I would want to have. Alas....:(

Re: Mystery snare might be an early Rogers

I'd say early Gretsch at this point....but my first guess was going to be Duplex.

Re: Slingerland Radio King- is this a good deal?

I can't really see the condition from that picture. The bass drum is going to sound huge but be a PITA to haul around(if you are planning on gigging with it). If it were me, then I'd need to NEED a...

Re: Two estate sale finds

Wow! Now THAT'S a legitimately nice find! Not a pieced-together Frankenstein kit. I love to see that. I don't collect anymore...but IF I were to run across that at an estate sale, then I'd likely buy...

Edit...Didn't see the second link. I thought you were referring to the Acrolite....sorry.

Re: future of drumheads

Interesting...but I'm not sure that our primitive style drums will even warrant such a technological advancement as you suggest. Our beloved analog instruments may go by the wayside one day.

Re: The 5 snares every drummer should own-The "Iconic" Snares

Yes I agree with you about different nuances in drums the same size and material.....But, in all honesty....(and this may just be my opinion....but I doubt it)...A snare drum, by its design, is a...

Re: What's with Acrolite (and Blackrolite) prices?

How many other snare drums can you name that have seamless, beaded, spun metal shell with flanged bearing edges? The Acrolite's shell, alone, is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy superior to most anything else out...

Re: The 5 snares every drummer should own-The "Iconic" Snares

That wasn't the OP's question. The OP's question was..."If you had to name five snare drums that every drummer should have, what would you say?"

There was no reference to "musical spectrum" or...

Re: What's with Acrolite (and Blackrolite) prices?

I love it! Don't get me wrong.....but part of the reason I collected stuff over the years was as an investment. I WANT the prices to go up on all this stuff. In fact, the only way I'd even consider...

Re: Performance Disaster

I started playing professional gigs when I was 15. Once, right after I got my brand-new 1975 Rogers Big R Memriloc kit, I was asked to play for a country "act" with some local guy who was semi-famous...

Re: Is my Acrolite really 1964?

Yes....to pile on and become redundant. ;) It's a '64 and yes it has COB hoops -as does my '64 Pioneer....except my Pioneer has NOB hoops!

Re: The Most Recorded Snare

It's probably a conclusion based on the number of Ludwig drums that were out there at the time. I don't see how the Supraphonic couldn't be the most-recorded snare drum, since it and the recording...

Re: 14" Rogers floor tom value

Exactly! I see the same thing happening all over the place with antique/vintage stuff. I bought a couple old Emerson fans that were made in the 1930s and the deeper I got into that market, the more...

Re: 14" Rogers floor tom value

Yeah, there are no wrong prices for things that are no longer made and from an era the likes of which will never return -ever. There is no room with "the" drum guys deciding what things are/aren't...

Re: Cymbalholic Site Closing down

I thought those new Constantinoples were heavy, too. But when Zildjian released their Vintage series of A's, I loved them and still do. I think they are some of the best sounding jazz cymbals I've...

Re: Cymbalholic Site Closing down

Nobody has to prove themselves, here. We are all interested in drums and cymbals for whatever reasons.

Everyone has something to offer or ask about here so let's try and be understanding of that.

Re: Bettis Decides Not To Shave

Yeah I'd never alter a cymbal even if I didn't like the sound. I'd just sell it and get another one that I liked better.

Re: Bettis Decides Not To Shave

Re: Oval Badge Dyna 5xxxx

Really handsome drum....I had one when I was too young to know how to get it set up properly. Too bad. I used to hate the feel of the stick response with it....again, I didn't know how to set it up....
