Re: Let's see your drum room!!

The best name for a drum room ever...The Drumgeon! VDF member J!m has trademarked it though, so you can always call it your beat laboratory like the movie Step Brothers.

Re: Cleaning Red Sparkle Wrap

Taking lugs off...

This summer I have been restoring a Star (Lido Supreme) Fantasia Pearl kit and have run into some "interesting" wrap issues...

The wrap on the two up toms is "slumped" a little causing some...

Re: Rogers Mardi Gras that got away.

I did hear back again from the seller last night. He told me that the drums were "tentatively sold" and that he would contact me if it falls through. That may fit with the out of town buyer story.

Re: Rogers Mardi Gras that got away.

Hi Dave...damn I was hoping it might have gone to you.
It looked like (best case) it would take a lot of elbow grease. My elbows are running a little dry working on a MIJ kit this summer, but I...

Re: Performance Disaster

It is a true testament to the maturity and decorum of the VDF that nobody has made a blue pill joke in this thread.

Re: New Guy With New MIJ Kit

Welcome to the VDF!

I traveled a very similar road to get here...I always wanted to be a drummer, all the way back to 7th grade band. I was so jealous of the drum kids...trombone players were...

Ideas for rubber mounting gaskets?

I have a tom mount that is missing the flat black rubber gasket that cushions the attachment of the mount to the shell. I have been to an auto parts store but what they sold was either too thin or...

Re: Ludwig stainless B/O kit "barn find"

Mine are riveted, I would think they all are, but this kit is my only experience with them. These things could survive a house fire and still be playable.

Re: The 5 snares every drummer should own-The "Iconic" Snares

I didn't know that Abercrombie and Fitch even made drums...that makes me like the smell of that store in the mall a little better.

But seriously, that gong snare is wild!

Re: MIJ (Star) tension rod question.

Last night I decided it was time to tap or die! (pun intended)

A quick trip to Lowes for the tap ($6), a sip of the good stuff to steady my hands, and now my MIJ lugs will readily accept good old...

Re: MIJ (Star) tension rod question.

I called DFD and explained my need to them, they said nothing they had would work? Maybe the person I talked to was uninformed?

Re: MIJ (Star) tension rod question.

Thanks Mark. Re-tap is something I considered but have never done, but hey, I fixed the microwave my daughter killed this week so I am feeling the Can Do spirit.
If I can't find some for sale soon,...

MIJ (Star) tension rod question.

This is probably a question that has been addressed in the forum, but my research didn't turn up much.

Is there a readily available source for rods that will work with MIJ (Star specifically)...

I suppose “lemon laws” don’t apply to drums...such a strange turn of events...maybe you angered the Phantom! My only experience with the Slingerland Phantom was answering an ad on CL for one only to...

Re: Lido Supreme...just a Lido with sour cream?

Hey Kenwood.
Wow interesting, your kit definitely has the same wrap, but the lugs look to be a little different. Yours don’t look as pointed as mine. More like Slingerland. Are the lugs drilled...

Just aquired a flaky Supra myself and I am wrestling with the same dilemma. I saw one sell on eBay (or Reverb) in the last few days that was painted nicely with a hammered look paint. It was a...

Re: Lido Supreme...just a Lido with sour cream?

As always, excellent advice everyone!
I luckily found the VDF and did some reading before I attempted my first tear-down restoration on that acrylic Star kit, so I've been doing it "right" from the...

Lido Supreme...just a Lido with sour cream?

Hi folks. Sorry for the lame Taco Bell joke. Thought I'd use this rainy summer day to show off my latest NE Ohio barn find.

The story...

I drove an hour each way in pouring rain to answer a CL...
