Re: Ludwig Standard S-340 on Reverb

I have never seen one of these kits with interior wrap. So damn cool!

Re: FOR SALE: 1965 Sonor Teardrop 13/16/20 drum set in Black Satin Flame

I never knew I needed a set of Sonors till now. Very striking and even the "imperfections" just add to the character. I'm sure someone in driving distance to BC will score them and be quite happy. ...

Re: Floating floor tom leg rubber feet

Bumping an old thread...

I need to replace rubber feet on a few floor tom legs and bass drum spurs on my '65 Club Dates. I've used the funky looking Pearl isolation feet on other kits and the...

Re: Slingerland Radio King

I don't know how (un)common 20" or 22" Radio King BDs are. I had a set of '41 Radio Kings in 24/16/13 sizes. That 24" kick sounded amazing (especially in the studio) but honestly, I think you can...

Re: 58' Gretsch Progressive Jazz Kit (re-wrap)

This ad almost seems like an April Fool's joke. Rewrap or not, that's a crazy good price for a set of round badges, especially with a snare included. Best of luck with the sale, John, I can't...

Re: red drums in the attic.......

So, what was the story behind the kit? It sounds like the woman was a widow... did she have any fond memories associated with her husband's drumming? Maybe she hated all the racket? LOL It seems...

Re: Gretsch Round Badge Aqua Satin Flame 14 inch floor

Nope. It was intended as a joke (I assumed most drummers would get), to further indicate my other statements about the drums being undesirable were also in tongue-in-cheek. So to clarify...

Re: Gretsch Round Badge Aqua Satin Flame 14 inch floor

Hehe, yeah, I thought for sure the "jazz guys love 18" floor toms" would have served as the nudge nudge, wink wink. I mean, I'm sure there is a jazz player somewhere, who loves an 18" FT, but seems...

Re: Gretsch Round Badge Aqua Satin Flame 14 inch floor

Yes, my post was definitely intended to be humorous. Those are two very nice looking drums, in a wrap that doesn't tend to age well (unless really looked after). The fact that they are round...

Re: Gretsch Round Badge Aqua Satin Flame 14 inch floor

These look to be worth a couple hundred dollars. Very unpopular wrap, in sizes that most drummers dislike (especially jazz guys who always go for an 18" floor tom). Plus it looks like all the parts...

Re: '65 Bronze Mist Club Dates In Action (Finally)!

Thanks, Mark!

Dave is an incredible pocket drummer (whether he's standing or sitting). Super nice guy to boot. We've shared the bill at a number of shows and always cool bumping into him...

Re: '65 Bronze Mist Club Dates In Action (Finally)!

Thanks again, guys! Stumbled on a gig photo that better shows the lacquer finish. Love the way these came with gold sparkle hoop inlays!

Cheers,

Re: '65 Bronze Mist Club Dates In Action (Finally)!

Thanks, Marko! The vid was a complete DIY project headed-up by our upright player. I'm still blown away by the results of his first attempt at a music video. Evidently there are some ISO camera...

'65 Bronze Mist Club Dates In Action (Finally)!

Howdy,

Been awhile since I was on the hunt for a second set of '65 Club Dates for my rockabilly gig with the Straight 8s. I made the mistake of falling in love with the bronze mist lacquer...

Re: WTB: Ludwig Club Dates

Just wanted to follow-up and let folks know my quest for some lacquer clubbies has come to an end. I've got some drums coming my way (from two sources) that will require some detailing, but pretty...

Re: WTB: Ludwig Club Dates

Greg,

Thanks for the tip! Those "Club Date USA" drums look amazing in black/gold duco. A bit surprised to see they are 7-ply shells, but I'm sure they sound killer. I have a sneaky suspicion...

Re: WTB: Ludwig Club Dates

Oh no, absolutely ALL GOOD, and I am glad GAR wants to scoop them up! I have been somewhat overwhelmed with all the great offers and a number of leads outside the VDF. Naturally all of this is...

Re: WTB: Ludwig Club Dates

Thanks for considering parting with your Club Dates, Mitch! I'm not quite sure what the math works out for the shells, hardware, and shipping. It looks like someone (previous owner?) installed...

Re: WTB: Ludwig Club Dates

Randy,

Thanks for offering up two Club Date options! I guess my preference would be towards the WMP kit since it has the 14" FT. I definitely like the look of the nickel hardware, so I'll try to...

Re: WTB: Ludwig Club Dates

To think that I used to scoff at the single-lug kits! Okay, not literally, but I was biased (brain-washed) from reading all those old catalogs and assuming "economical" or "student model" translated...

WTB: Ludwig Club Dates

Howdy,

Since scoring a set of '65 Clubbies a few years ago, I've really fallen in love with these drums. They are currently serving double duty between two bands. I'd like to get a 2nd kit that...

Re: Ludwig, Gretsch and Slingerland kits for VDF members at awesome prices.

REALLY digging that swing session... what are the odds of finding a 14x14 FT to match (or come reasonably close)?

WTB: Club Date Clipper FT Brackets

I'm looking for three (3) bracket assemblies. I am planning to modify these (enlarging the holes to accommodate larger diameter legs), so they don't have to be perfect (just complete). Thanks.
