Ludwig 6.5x14 Hammered Brass Snare!

Ludwig 6.5x14 hammered brass snare for sale. I am told this was from NAMM and may be a one of a kind prototype. The shell is raw unpolished brass and appears to be unlacquered, so it will patina...

Re: Gene Krupa playing a Dynasonic?

And here is a photo from a LB drum instruction book showing an interesting setup LB used (for clinics?). It shows Rogers drums in some unusual sizes. I read somewhere that Joe Thompson liked Louie...

Re: Gene Krupa playing a Dynasonic?

I always loved that photo of Gene on the Rogers kit, but never saw the video. I also never noticed the 4x14 dyna! Just think, it is out there somewhere. Thanks Tommy!

Re: Remo Sparkletone heads?

Hey Tommy, don’t forget the video of Buddy playing on the Mike Douglas Show. He was with Slingerland, but was playing a black strata Rogers kit with the blue sparkltone front bass head. The silver...

Re: Remo Sparkletone heads?

Your assessment re the glued on sparkles, etc. is correct, but I never had much of a problem with them flaking off. There were two types that I remember, Remo Sparkltone and Rogers offered...

Re: Roger Wood Dynasonic Natural Finish

I also noticed the horizontal splice and thought the same. Since the script badge was removed, I think the original covering was removed and drum was refinished. It could be a decent player,...

Re: Roger Wood Dynasonic Natural Finish

I have seen a natural shell Dynasonic, but it was some years ago. I believe it was sold by Steve Maxwell. I am assuming a natural finish could be special ordered, but not a catalogue offering. The...

Re: Value of Rogers Bongos

Tiny Rogers drums indeed! Check the measurements as my Cleveland era bongos are 6” and 8”. It is hard to place a value as they don’t come up for sale that often. I vaguely remember seeing some...

Re: Dynasonic 7 line 6.5 purchase. There's a catch

I wouldn’t worry about the serial number, especially if you got it at a fair price. The drum is nice and the badge is part of it’s history. Many of these drums come thru the years unscathed and...

Re: Question about Rogers (Luxor) snare shells

+1

Why not just buy a nice beavertail Luxor? Probably about the price of building a modern drum. Plus the modern Luxor “like” drum just wouldn’t have the mojo of an original.
