Re: Heads which are a bit bigger than Remo Classic Fit

My Radio King kit is oversized. I've got Remo Classic Fit Ambassadors on the 13" & 16" now and they fit substantially better than Aquarian American Vintage or Evans 360 heads.

They actually...

Re: Modern heads on a vintage drum

If it’s really close to fitting you could try cutting the aluminium ‘flesh’ hoop (just the aluminium, not the Mylar!) which might open it up enough to fit.

Before the Remo Classic fits arrived I...

Re: Shipping a Ludwig 'Bonham"sized kit to Australia.

My 26, 13, 16 Radio Kings came across from the states the slow way; by sea. And the shells were nested inside each other. Took a long time but it was fairly cheap. I can't even remember the figure,...

Re: Early 40's Slingerland Radioking

Beautiful. Matches my 26/13/16, although yours look to be in better nick. I bet that 28" is amazing... I've just gone from coated ambs both sides to a coated p3 on the back and a solid smooth white...

Re: Early Superstar finish

The early Superstars (in traditional depths... not so much the later power sizes) are amazing drums. Those ones look to be the 'super maple' finish which is maple in colour, not timber, the...

They look awesome, particularly the kick. Dreadnought is an amazing model name too...

Sort of like the Danmar skateboard wheel beaters?

Re: What is wrong with today's youth ?

I'd say it kind of goes both ways to a degree. Most of the times I've been with friends who have been on the end of racist remarks or behaviour it's come from the older generations. I distinctly...

Re: Beater Mod

Nice. I guess you could get really creative and also look at putting a thin section of harder or softer felt to change the characteristics of the beater sound.

Re: RIP Chris Cornell

Terrible news. Initial report appears to be hanging.

I've been listening to SG flat out since I heard about this.

Superunknown and Bad Motorfinger are two of the greatest rock records ever...

Re: Tama guys-how's this condition ?

I'd probably jump on 'em. Amazing drums, more so the earlier ones in standard depths like those as opposed to the 'power' depths.

Re: Rack tom choke issue

My Slingerland doesn't have mounting hardware. The 16" has leg brackets but that's the closest thing. 26" and 13" are both virgins; no tom mount on either, I've got the DW hoop clamp spurs on the...

Re: Rack tom choke issue

They're basically what I replicated (in a very rough, DIY manner) by attaching some pieces of foam to the plastic basket claws on my snare stand. Worked a treat! They're the snare basket equivalent...

Re: Rack tom choke issue

I get the sentiment but I think you've taken it to the extreme. If I sit my 13" tom in the snare stand I use for my snare (a modern, heavier duty number) it's dead. Loses a good chunk of the mids...

Re: Remo Classic Fit

Thanks for the response, Orangmi. Your description sounds perfect, both parts about the tuning and also the larger inside diameter compared to the Aquarian AVs. I've got a set of AV Mediums on the...

Re: Remo Classic Fit

Thanks for the update, Orangemi. Was it a noticeable improvement to the sound? Do you think it helps increase the tuning range?

Looks similar to mine. Mine is a rewrap but had the same lugs, hoops, leg brackets and mufflers look very similar. My legs backers are in a normal/factory position though. I've only go a muffler on...

Re: Remo Classic Fit

Orangemi, please keep us posted with how they go in comparison to regular coated Ambassadors and the Aquarians AVS. I've got another month or so until my drum shop gets them in. I'm really hoping...

I'm guessing small stages aren't something Jack White has to worry about too often. Dead Weather play pretty reasonable venues, not exactly your average bar gig...

Re: Remo Classic Fit

I can force Remo's onto my Slingerland which are oversized and a touch out of round but they go on a lot nicer after cutting the hoop a few times. AMVs go on a lot easier but they still don't sit...

Re: New from Remo

The AMV is a larger overall collar. The Remo Classic Fit is a narrower collar giving you a lager inner diameter without increasing the outer diameter and giving you possible issue with the hoop. The...
