Re: Cool or Not?

I kinda feel like the badge is a part of the drum's DNA, one more clue to it's past or to help us establish patterns, like why Whitehall kits show up more often in certain geographical area &...

Re: Help identifying shellset

THat's an Japanese Pearl-made stencil kit from the early 70's, asian magogany (luan) shells, "speedboat lugs" & the Swivomatic copy tom arms Pearl were using around "72. Nice drums for $150, but not...

Reminds me of the kind of crazy hodge-podge mix of shells/parts on Walberg & Auge drums!

Re: Beautiful, or just grandma’s linoleum?

A few months ago I had a friend over with his '68 Blue Oyster kit. Here it is next to my 1970 bowling ball version. The 60's Blue Oyster is very pretty up close, but fades to a greyish hue and lacks...

Re: 14" Rogers floor tom value

I've seen this kind of thread before. It usually pertains to someone selling a 14x14 Rogers, a COB Ludwig Super, an original wood Dyna-Sonic, a Turkish K or some other rare form of "unobtainium"....

Ludwig maple 4x13 piccolo

Nice clean Ludwig maple 4x13 piccolo with black & white badge, muffler. I'm assuming 80's. I haven't done any research yet. Strainer works perfectly, brand new Ambassador X on top, original bottom...

50's Rogers Questions

A friend of a friend contacted me through FB looking for some info on his WMP eagle badge Rogers kit. I don't have the serials yet, but was hoping someone could school me on shell composition of this...

Re: Rogers Red Onyx Drums

I'm surprised these are still here! I play with pretty well nothing but players grade Rogers kits & have never been happier. My 14x20 is the best kick I have ever owned.

Re: Vintage - 13" Zildjian Hi-Hats (Made in Canada)

I live in eastern Canadian too & have had a few of these Canadian A's pass through my hands as well as some nice early Sabians. As well as stamping A's with "Made in Canada" there are also 70's...

Re: 1968 Walberg & Auge Perfection Jazz Outfit in Rogers Blue Strata Pearl 20/14/12/1

Fantastic!! I'm totally fascinated by W&A & these are another fine example. The best of all our favourite drums, made with even more love, even rarer & there don't seem to be two exactly the same....

Re: Advice on Mics and Set-up

There are definitely a lot of options! It's a little mind-boggling at first. Spend a bit of time on gearslutz.com, watch some microphone shootout videos & familiarise yourself with the specs of...

Looking forward to seeing your work on these! They'll give us something to oggle over in the future! I have owned 4 Fullerton kits (Holiday, Powertone & 9/72), all fantastic & my 2 present kits are...

Re: Vintage Premier 303 Drums 1972 Golden Sun

Wow! The Golden Sun wrap is gorgeous & so are the mahogany shells. & those 14 "pancake" toms kill me! Have fun restoring these. I hope you'll take them out for a spin before putting them up for sale.

Re: 14 and 6/8ths of an inch Cymbal???

Every time I see imperial cymbal sizes listed in fractions I assume they are metric sized. I'm getting 37.14 cm, but it could be 37 cm. A 1.4 mm variation is pretty tiny and I had to convert a...

Re: Bought a cymbal sound unheard--Maybe a Super Zyn?

Thanks Vyacheslav. Wish I still had it. The 12" mounted tom was a custom order bt the original order. These Birch Artist kits came with a 10" mounted tom by default. You can here both the Krut and...

Re: Bought a cymbal sound unheard--Maybe a Super Zyn?

Here's a pic of a Krut with a huge dome-like bell on it. This one was NS-12 and trashy, but in a good way. I agree that the OP's "symbol" looks like a Zyn/Krut/Super Zyn or something from that...

Re: Custom Rogers Kit

Great job! Nice balance between modern & retro. That vinyl wraps actually looks nicer than a lot of the big company's offerings these days. And the creamy caramel center is made of Rogers, which...

He had been pretty vocal about his health situation while selling off a lot of his collection last summer. I can't find posts later than 7/18 so I'm hoping he is alright & will check in with us.

Re: Help ID Yamaha kit

It does look a (rewrapped) split-lug version of a Power V. From what I can gather the Power V with split lugs were made in Japan, though I'm not insinuating that it makes it "better or worse". Yamaha...
