Re: Slingerland question...

Exactly! If I were to be interested in Slingerland 5-ply shells, I'd be factoring in the cost to get the edges leveled! Still, the asking price is already fair!

Re: 14" Rogers floor tom value

Hi Luke!

Yes, this is the tom I found on eBay. It appears that it sold, but is being re-listed? Was there a non-paying bidder?

Re: Slingerland 900,000 serial number

First, I want to say that it's amazing that member wesgart found this thread from almost 13 years ago! Second, the above post from slingerfan should provide the needed information. My 1994 HSS badges...

Re: Gretsch 4160 SSB Lightning throw

Hi jda!

Thanks for answering! Yes, romulus, you're going to have to track down this earlier Lightning strainer. Prepare to pay big bucks for it! Best of luck with your search!

Re: Slingerland question...

Bucky,

That set is reasonably priced at $595 + $200 shipping. Like you, I don't have any need for a kit this large, plus, I'm just not crazy about the 5 ply shells...AND...I don't need any more...

Re: Gretsch 4160 SSB Lightning throw

I just found these pictures on eBay. This one sold just last month for $85. Another one sold around the same time for almost $135! Looks like they can get pricey!

Hi Romulus!

I'll post some pictures of the two different styles of the Lightning throw off. The first is the one I believe you are looking for. It has the two bolts on the bottom and one on top....

Hi Al!

Great score...and well worth the drive! Yep, that MIJ kit is wrapped in Pearl Fantasia, aka Fantasia Pearl! I've got a Star 6-lugger wrapped in this finish.

Heed Dj333's advice with...

Re: Slingerland question...

Are these the drums? https://reverb.com/item/17353618-slingerland-maple-with-inner-oiled-sealed-sheels-1975-black

The sentence structure is one long sentence! So, I'm not surprised that they...

Re: Slingerland question...

Hi Bucky! It really sounds like a typo to me! They probably meant "shells". As to "oil sealed", again, they may not be well-versed with drums. Slingerland was using clear maple interiors in 1975 and...

I realize that there are good substitutes out there that will get the job done. I'm just one of those drummers that prefers to obtain the same style of rubber "crutch" tip that came on my vintage...

Re: Ludwig Supraphonic Cut Badge???

My educated guess says that it's not original. The badge looks like it was installed after the shell was painted. Plus, the grommet doesn't look original as well. Hope this helps. I'm sure others...

Excellent! I just ordered tips for both floor tom legs and Slingerland flush base stands. Even when not being used, the tips for the flush base stands tend to split after awhile. Always nice to have...

Re: 14" Rogers floor tom value

Hi Wayne!

Not too many years ago, Rogers 14" floor toms, or even those from all the other US companies, were easily selling for the price you mentioned. Condition and color had a lot to do with...

Re: Latest Addition: 1962 Pre Serial Ludwig Combo/Club Date in Blue/Silver Duco CLEAN

Mark!

A really great looking Blue/Silver Duco kit! It's rare that I see this finish without lots of chipping paint!

Not sure why Chris refers to that other kit as a "Jet". All Jet outfits had...

I tend to agree with the three above posts, with a few exceptions. Yes, it is an incredibly clean set of transition Star-to-Tama drums. The included hardware package, also very clean, just adds to...

Hi Magnus!

Your Supra looks stunning! I'm really glad I was able to help with hoop suggestions that the Gibraltars allow your Supra to finally sound how you hoped it would. And, a big "thank you"...
