Re: Zildjian's latest

The real question is would any of you buy new cymbals from Zildjian anyway?
It's like the new 3 ply Ludwig kits. I don't know as though we are their target market.
Ive been hunting for years for a...

Re: 1952 WFL Porto-Pak Outfit No. 986P in Sparkling Red Pearl with era correct FT

How's that snare sound in person? I've tried to watch a lot of vids with the Porto snares but can't really tell. I have played a few modern import 5 and 5.5x13" snares and was thinking of making a...

Re: Where are all the Duco finishes?

I got this 1959 transition badged pioneer at guitar center years ago. Can't remember what I paid, but it was cheap enough that I couldn't leave it there. Maybe $150? The guy told me that there was a...

Re: Pearl 70s Wood-Fiberglass Rock Kit

Are the toms wood-fiberglass too?
I recall that the toms are typically all fiberglass.
As far as fiberglass drums go, they definitely have their fans. In comparison to the luan shells that were in...

Re: Big ass CB700 kit.

Got the toms and one floortom wrapped.

Still gotta clean up the chrome. But the satin black makes the chrome pop.

I'm also short one tom arm and bracket.

Re: Big ass CB700 kit.

I just went to the fabric store and bought vinyl. 52" length by the yard. 1/2 off coupon bought enough to wrap the double bass kit and some extras. Under $50

Yes that is fantastic work. I'm all for a little fabrication.
I made my own clubdate floor tom clips. I will experiment with your design.

CB Pearl Maxwin tom holder and bracket

Hey, looking for one of the ball and socket tom arms that were from the Taiwanese Pearl, Maxwin and CB700 drums.

Let me know if you got one and how much you want for it.

Thanks!

Big ass CB700 kit.

Well in a moment of weakness and nostalgia I bought some late 70's early 80's CB drums. I intend on rewrapping them with vinyl similar to the old Ludwig black panther wrap.
The shells I picked up...

Re: Concert tom "flashing"?

There is a black rubber that you can get for marching trios and quints but it's too modern. I have a 14" Ludwig concert tom with the aluminum trim on it. Sure it COULD get dinged up, but it still...

Re: Huge Gretsch SSB kit for sale here locally-too bad about the rack toms =(

A friend of mine has a studio workhorse SSB kit that was setup with Slingerland set-o-matic hardware.
Anything was better than those monster mounts!

Re: Concert tom "flashing"?

The question was never "did it come with the trim?" Because I know it didn't.

I'm simply inquiring where to get some.

Re: Concert tom "flashing"?

My kit is from 1972, obviously it came without the trim, reguardles of what the catalogs show.
However I am trying to find some.

It's also worth noting that the shells are red inside in that pic.

Re: Concert tom "flashing"?

The bass drum trim is original, Slingerland supplied concert bass drums with a rippled aluminum vinyl inside, the chrome edge, and bass drum head with the logo inside. It's also a 5 ply shell, where...

Re: Ludwig Student Snare, early 1960s

Remember "asking ain't gettin" check eBay's completed items.
Despite what people are trying to sell them for I won't pay more than $200 for a pioneer in any condition.

Yup rocker II.
Looks like the correct Spurs. I switched mine to Gibraltar folding spurs.
4 ply shells, sounded good. I eventually sold the kit after having to replace about four lug casings.
They...

Concert tom "flashing"?

Hello, I've got a 70's Slingerland concert tom set.
It's technically an 85N pop outfit, but the bass drum is 22" and the floortom is the full 16" depth. While the bass drum has the chrome edge...
