Ludwig Gold Painted Hoops?

Hey, I saw a pic of this drum on Reverb and was wondering if anyone knew anything about Ludwig or WFL at any point in their history using gold painted bass hoops. The grommet on the badge also isn't...

Re: Why do I trust Ebay sellers?

Even if the legs weren't sitting on the same drum. If the legs weren't included in the auction/sale, why would that picture even be there? Seller needs some better excuses.

Complete BS that the...

Gretsch Throwoff Hole Pattern?

Hey everyone,

Just got this Gretsch snare from the late 50s/early 60s. (I think 58?) and a previous owner had replaced the original snare throwoff with a Rogers Dyna throw-off.

Does anyone...

Re: Snareweight Pro-Lock

You clip a snareweight onto your snare to get that fat, wallet sound.

The pro-lock appears to just be the clip you use to clip your snareweight on if your drum has diecast hoops.

Re: Best way to clean up Ludwig Resocoat (aka white painted interiors)?

I'm just spitballing here but maybe a melamine sponge/magic eraser?

Repairing shell/re-rings

Hey everyone, just picked up this snare drum and it's unfortunately got some breaks in the shell and where the re-ring attaches.

I've never really done this level of repair work before but figured...

Re: Leedy Mardi Gras Snare

First off, thanks to everyone for the compliments, you've all got me blushing.

I can't take credit for any secret formula of course, just a lot of time reading up on old threads on this forum....

Re: How Many Vintage Drums Do You Own?

3 sets: Trans badge Gold Sparkle Ludwig 13/16/20, Keystone badge Club Date in champagne sparkle and a Slingerland Radio King from 1955 or '56.

14 snares (one that came with the gold sparkle and...

Re: Leedy Mardi Gras Snare

@Slingerfan, you're right, the grommet is a bit deformed, but as far I can tell it's original (the badge is tight and the grommet seems correct for a Leedy.) It's almost looks like it got squished...

Leedy Mardi Gras Snare

I don't often post without asking for advice, but figured this drum was notable enough to deserve its day in the spotlight.

Picked up a SlingerLeedy snare in Mardi Gras 2 days ago, 2 days later,...

Ludwig Bass T-Rods and Claws

Hey all,

Recently bought a Ludwig Rocker bass with classic lugs. After pulling it apart, I noticed that the t-rods and claws were not the same as either later Rockers or the normal Ludwig t-rods...

Re: DOMi and JD Beck

Al that's awesome. I'm big into Vulfpeck and have now seen them 3 times (they don't play much, but being in the NYC area means I can easily get to their annual NYC show) Jack's hilarious and he's...

Re: DOMi and JD Beck

Louis Cole also plays on the fourth version of Vulfpeck's It Gets Funkier. (Which is arguably the 3rd best version, but I digress.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq5LMGtBmis

Any 5/16'' Ludwig curved bass spurs? (Without the mount ideally, just the spurs if you've got!)

Re: What is this piece of hardware?

Unfortunately, it was a K clone (I think Zenstat referred to it as an Italian Ersatz K Iposted about it on the vintage cymbals subforum in late November.)

Re: What is this piece of hardware?

Makes sense, there was a pretty old cymbal attached to it originally! Thanks JM, I appreciate it...now to figure out what to do with it. Probably going to end up in my misc. hardware box.

What is this piece of hardware?

Hey y'all, got a drum-related thing that I have no idea what it is. It had an inverted cymbal attached to it between the giant felt and the smaller felt.

Any idea what it is and when it's from?

Re: Unpopular Drum Opinions-Post em Here!

I'd rather deal with vintage Gretsch chrome than vintage Gretsch wrap.

And while agree most of the time colored heads are blehhh, colored heads on clear vistalites are awesome.

2) Does anyone know what the...

Re: Unpopular Drum Opinions-Post em Here!

High end modern drums are just as good as vintage drums. Obviously I won't compare a Pearl Export to a 60s Ludwig kit, but you're getting incredible quality out of a modern day Ludwig classic maple...

Re: Ludwig Speed King 2020 Reissue question.

Ha I wish! That's Carter McLean, drumming extraordinaire. He's absolutely incredible and happens to be a Ludwig endorser so I imagine that's why he got it early.

I believe he's the set...
