Re: Oliver Ditson Co. Boston New York

I've got a Ditson Snare drum that was restored by Eames. I heard many years ago that George B. Stone (George Lawrence Stone's father) was a supplier for Ditson. I'm not sure if Ditson made their own...

Re: Drum/Sewing Kit

And this is what happens when you are to lazy to type and solely rely on auto-correct.

I got into some good-natured trouble with my wife years ago when I told her I would be home after I dropped...

Re: Is There A Doctor In The House

I'm not a Doctor, but I play one on the internet. LoLoLoLo

When your limbs "go to sleep" and tingle, it means that pressure is being applied and putting the squeeze on nerve pathways and blood...

Re: My Camco Oaklawn BD.....How many plies do you see?

It would be christmas for me if it were to be 3-ply. It would mean It is an early Camco transitional shell. I see 3-plies, but I wlll defer to the experts here.

My Camco Oaklawn BD.....How many plies do you see?

I have sanded the interior for re-painting because the interior was yellowed and stained from years of exposure to no resonance head in smoky clubs and bars. This is a player's drum that was nested,...

Re: Hello......Is This Thing Working?

Page 64 of Rob Cook's "The Rogers Book" (v.2) is very revealing in how Rogers Inc. was dealt with.

Re: Hello......Is This Thing Working?

I would say that there is always more to learn. It's still almost impossible to date a Camco kit accurately, let alone their catalogs. And yes, most of the big questions in the drum business have...

Re: Camco experts!

Thanks Amosguy,

The pad seems very tight and solid and the only sad thing is the felt has petrified somewhat over the 55 plus years of service. I suspect that the felt is glued to the circular...

Re: Camco experts!

OK. I finally have pics of the muffler in question. Upon inspecting it, I don't see any way a rubber band or floss will work. Has anybody been able to adjust these to keep them from buzzing?

Re: UV damaged Satin FLame/Moire?

This is the last drum to be detailed and painted. I've finished cleaning and polishing all the hardware down to the washers and inserts and springs. It's a long job, but they sure do pop now.
I...

Re: UV damaged Satin FLame/Moire?

Thanks Mark!

Your drums look a lot better than this one. This was a players kit that was nested between gigs IN THE BACK OF A PICKUP TRUCK IN ALASKA!!!!
So, I'm happy to have a 20-12-14 Camco...

UV damaged Satin FLame/Moire?

Is there any way to bring back a 60's Satin Flame/Moire wrap that has been faded by sunlight? I've cleaned with "Scrubbing Bubbles" which lifted dust and dirt pretty well, but the Blue Moire is on...

Re: Camco Lug questions....

It doesn't look to be part of the casting. It has a copper-ish tint to it that stands out from the rest of the lug. If I had to guess, I would say it was soldered in place, but I really don't know....

Re: Labor Day is a real holiday.

Leedybdp,

So, in your first two sentences, you are referring to the late-60's?
Your tenure there must have been a tumultuous period. Wow.
I recall (reading or hearing) that Rogers was begging...

Re: Labor Day is a real holiday.

I am away from my Rogers book during the pandemic, but this makes me wonder what the impetus was for CBS to move operations from Covington, OH to Fullerton, CA. in 1969, where Fender was based (also...

I've also got a COB Powertone that I bought to cover until I found this Blue Glass Glitter for the matching Rogers kit I had acquired a few years before. Green Sparkle or Green Glass Glitter is...
