Re: Heads for a '69 Supraphonic

Everyone has different tastes and styles of playing, but from the beginning, I would always use Remo Ambassadors on all Toms, but preferred Diplomats on my Snares, both Batter and Reso Heads.

And...

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

The joke about my NOS LM-402 was the seller evidently didn't know what he had, thought it was a Ludwig "Rocker" Snare Drum because of the Ludwig Rocker named Clear-Black Dot Batter Head, and Clear...

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

I'd probably have to agree that the basic stock issue strand count Puresound Snare Wires can transform these drums from so so, to stellar.

I remember I still have a pair of stock replacement...

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

Thank you Mike for your comments.

The Badge on my LM-402 looks to be exactly the same as the one in the seller's pictures. Is this what's referred to as a "Pointy Badge"?

If so, then I'm not...

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

Wow.
I got a perfect mint NOS LM-402, B/O Badge, and from the serial # I determined it to be about 1980 manufacture.

Absolutely no pitting of any kind, perfect chrome,no issues, dents, nada. I...

Re: Slingerland Drum research, help!

You might get many numerous suggestions on heads.

The build quality of Aquarian Heads is very good but in truth I never liked the sound of the various Aquarian Heads I've sampled. All seemed to...

Re: Car wax on wrapped finishes?

You might be surprised just how many off the shelf waxes and sealants have silicones in them, and also other chemicals, polymers, solvents, detergent cleaners, other types of wax, etc. I'd guess...

Re: Car wax on wrapped finishes?

One major dislike I have of conventional waxes or sealants which you wipe on, and wipe off is their inherit qualities of leaving behind residues, and in regards to drum shells, this would be in areas...

Re: Joe Morello Technique

I seen Joe at a Franks Drum Shop Clinic once. As well as sitting right next to Buddy at another Clinic there in '67.

Seen quite a few others there. Bellson, Joe Cusatis, Jose Betancourt, Roy...

Re: Steve Maxwell Repro Setomatic Holder!

Nice to see this.
Some years ago, I was luckily able to acquire a few new NOS Rods with the Plastic Balls. from Musical Closeouts in case the one on my set ever went bad. I sold one, and smartly...

Re: Lessening Yellowing on Slingy WMP

This Salon Care method seems quite promising, and I did search and watch some videos where a UV light was not used, (on a Louvered Ceiling Vent) that just the natural UV emitted from sunlight worked...

Re: Lessening Yellowing on Slingy WMP

Yeah, the lacquer thinner technique would probably be a bit too scary for me as well.
Especially on such a beautiful pristine clean snare such as this.

As far as condition both the wrap, and...

Lessening Yellowing on Slingy WMP

I think I remember such a thread some long time back but couldn't find it.
(This is probably a good one for Tommy P)

I have recently acquired a 70's Slingy Artist 8 Lug 5.5x14 Snare, and the...

Re: Vintage Supra Heads

I have a Ludwig LM-402, build date said to be 1980, and when I bought it, it was an NOS Snare, and I at least know it came supplied with a Clear Rocker Batter Head, with Black Center Dot.

Re: BR on fibes

On my Spitfire with the TDR, one problem that seems common, is the little piece of Rubber Surgical Tubing aging, crumbling, then the Strainer doesn't work.

A little tricky dealing with the small...

Re: The Richest drummers in the world !!

And as I once recall, that many moons ago, there was a person who once asked Buddy Rich what he thought of Ringo Starr as a Drummer? And I believe Buddy's reply was "He's adequate".

Boy, I would...

I'd like to ask if any of you folks know if such shows are ever held in Florida? If so could you please state when and where?
Thanks, Mark
