Re: Ludwig Black Galaxy School Festival

Seller had it on a regular auction initially. I saved it to see how it would do financially. The auction was cancelled. When I did a search I found the relisting with the buy it now.

I had seen one prior to this one, years back. I too was surprised at the sale price on this one.

Re: Help Identifying this Ludwig

In Rick Gier's comprehensive Ludwig dating guide, he lists a interior like these with the serial number of 857643. So it's not too far off of the grid.

Re: Help Identifying this Ludwig

Beautiful drums! Classic shells. Early 70's with that interior and the three ply shells having reinforcement rings. If it does have a new bass mount, they are interchangeable with the originals. It...

Great sounding drums in my opinion. I've got a few. Had one with the black wrap at one time.

Re: Ludwig 17 inch tenor shell, rims, heads & some hardware

I think the 12" depth would be fine. I have two 17's that are used for this purpose. Both are 12" x 17". They are very responsive and plenty of volume.

Re: Ludwig 17 inch tenor shell, rims, heads & some hardware

The heads alone are worth this. Somebody snatch this up! Great sounding drums in this size.

Re: Low serial# Ludwig Pioneer, color question

Under the lug should tell the tale. That date stamp is one year prior to my birthday. I have a Club Date tom that is one year after my birthday.

The Zildjians are pre Trans Stamp models (some call these second Stamps), circa 1940's.

I have an original mid 60's Ludwig 12x15 center lug model with three separate wraps/colors. I really like it.

Re: Identification : Ludwig Drum Strainer Throw-Off P-87 on snare with B/O badge

That should be a Ludwig Super Classic model. Even into the 70's they were still available in lacquer finishes as yours appears to be. Nice!
