Re: Sling set 70s ID potential buy for Dean

+1 with K.O. Mid 70's for main kit (255xxx is 76ish). Snare is a couple years newer (328xxx is 78ish). No glaring inconsistencies apparent in the very limited photos. As an esteemed member here...

Re: Slingerland-to buy or not to buy

Black/brass badge and serial 167xxx is consistent with '68. The grommet does appear to have been tampered with and seeing a close up of the WMP I am even more suspect of a re-wrap. As stated...

Re: Slingerland Drums For Sale

This is a very nice unmolested original set. Beautiful WMP. Nicely clustered serials. The seller is very forthright with disclosing the few flaws. This one won't disappoint.

Re: Slingerland-to buy or not to buy

Is that 167xxx with black/brass badges or black/silver badges? Either way the super set-o-matic would not be factory with that serial. Perhaps you are not concerned with 100% originality. The...

Re: My First Slingerland Kit

leedy, there is no legitimate dating chart that has black/silver Niles badges in the 60's. Your drums are early 70's, period.

Yep, with '73 being most likely.

Re: Slingerland in the house or not

More pictures/info needed to properly identify. With the exception of DrumBob mistakenly seeing a clamshell strainer all other comments/concerns are valid.

Re: Slingerland acquisition!

In post #4 of this old thread Dr. Wenk mentions the aluminum set-o-matic being used into early 1970, chrome introduced late '69.

Re: My First Slingerland Kit

Larry, I'm liking early 70's on this kit. Would you provide some serial numbers?

Re: Slingerland acquisition!

Mark, Slingerland historian Dr. CJ Wenk has stated the aluminum set-o-matic was used thru early '70. His work is 10+ years old. Is there some new information available that disputes that claim?

Re: Slingerland acquisition!

'68 (later) for the snare. '69 for the kick. Everything looks good.

Re: Premier Olympic Small Hardware

There is another Phillips type called JIS which stands for Japanese Industrial Standard. As the name implies used by Japanese manufacturers. It is designed with even less "cam out" than Pozidriv. ...

Re: Identification - Slingerland Bass drum 20x14 with double legs

1979 would be expected for serial 399xxx. Is there a cursive "Slingerland" ink stamp on the interior of the shells? That would also be expected. Marks suggestion for verifying a factory dual spur...

Re: Buddy Rich Slingerlands thread UPDATE

OK. I don't subscribe to the anything goes, chaos on the factory floor school of thought. It is just a bit to easy. Of course there are exceptions to the rule but mostly there was a rule and that...

Re: Buddy Rich Slingerlands thread UPDATE

Thank You Tommy P. Could you comment on the 9 x 13 tom? The OP claimed it has no vent hole or badge. Is that a known "Buddy" request?

Re: Today's CL score!

Very good, serial and date align nicely. A couple small observations on the BD: The 2-bolt rail consolette would not be expected in late '64 (would typically be the 4-bolt). The standard position...

Re: Today's CL score!

Nice find. Would you be willing to share the serial number? Should be 5-digit, first two numbers will suffice (e.g. 52xxx).
