That is what I found too. Vintage student drums or school drums & percussion equipment wasn't always the prettiest of the gang but they were made too last (age and taking a beating) and most have...

Like I wrote, I have had this drum for about 25 years and I never noticed the large, lightly sprayed on? 1" large numbers until just recently.

You might take a flashlight and checkout your drums...

Yea, all the study I've ever done about the L&L drums they didn't have serial numbers. So, I'm guessing the big 1' tall numbers probably are shell lot numbers or just lot numbers for something???

Thanks! So the small stamp IS the date stamp 06/54 and I'm guessing the other large numbers "48838" are the serial numbers?
