I currently have a SK1 on my 24" Slingerland.... same deal I bought a slightly used one cheaply to try out.. It's replacing a Power Stroke also..

I like the sound & the band are happy with it...

So 8upwithit posted a simple phrasing of the fill... best while learning to just play that fill continuously along with the recording a couple of times thru... play just the fill.. you will not...

Yes many of us cut huge holes in those heads. I reckon just buy a new head & a Slingerland logo sticker for it.
The original heads had a sticker on which the surround over time would yellow .. I...

Spray on furniture polish will bring up that finish.. In OZ it's "MR Sheen".

Yes Cordova, Pearl called it Naugahyde & used it on their Maxwin kits, a leather look vinyl.
and '76 sounds about right..

Good luck in putting the kit together.. they do sound great.. had mine...

400 dollars sounds reasonable if in good condition... the bottom hoops will eventually be found as will a muffler. That array of sizes put the kit at being a "Super Rock" kit model 51N.. The original...

Yep, you are correct, (one or the other) My oversight.. but I did slip in "Phenolic " Dyna family toms :)?

The BD & FT are Wood/Fibreglass lined..

Note I was working for Pearl in the 70's...

I don't know what brillo pads or comet are? .. But I have had really good results using Windex (window cleaner) and for really thick gunk on coated heads Ajax powder or Jif paste.

Sad time for that family... George died just a few weeks back.. George was also much of the reason that AC DC got off the ground..
George was a well respected member of OZ "Rock Royalty"...
