Re: cool Dixie snare

Thanks Mike. I am starting to get how guys end up with a wall full of snare drums. They can be relatively inexpensive (especially MIJ), and a satisfying restoration project that you can complete in a...

I just completed the clean-up of this super cool Dixie snare. It had mismatched and broken lugs on it, and some old stickers. I transplanted the lugs from a donor snare, and polished it up. I love...

Re: Two 18 in floor toms for under $10.

Hi guys,
I did think of that solution, but was afraid it may weaken the structure enough that it would go way out of round near the bottom. When making the first one, I cut the bottom (formerly the...

Re: Two 18 in floor toms for under $10.

The pep rally before the rival game...104th meeting between the teams! The drums were loud, the class of 2020 won the spirit award, and the team won the game for the first time in a few years. Fun...

Re: Joseph Rogers Jr. & Son Bass Drum

Thanks so much Gary!
I love seeing those old catalogs...I guess it hasn't depreciated much in 70 years...I paid $50 for it, so that's less than $.25/year. Best thing about it (other than the price)...

Joseph Rogers Jr. & Son Bass Drum

I feel super lucky to have picked up this neat old drum this week. I don't know much about it yet, but I sure like it. It was advertised as a 27 in snare drum from the 50's...The shell is actually...

Re: Two 18 in floor toms for under $10.

What can I say...my wife and daughter liked the look of the long zip ties hanging down??? I would trim them if it were up to me, but not too short because it's nice to be able to pull them a little...

Re: Two 18 in floor toms for under $10.

Thanks guys.

I'm sure my next engineering project won't go so smoothly. My wife loves to find things on Pintrest or Etsy and ask me to recreate them...last year it was a giant 6 foot diameter...

Two 18 in floor toms for under $10.

My oldest daughter is a cheerleader and her school has a tradition of beating on make-shift drums during pep rally class competitions. Most of them are just upside down garbage cans or plastic...

Ha, and because of us they think there is plenty of interest at that price.

Nice WMP Hollywood big beat kit

This kit is for sale locally by a solid citizen that I have done biz with in the past.
Thought I’d help him out by posting it here. Seems like a fair price.

Re: What would make this kit worth $4000???

I don't really care, and I don't want that kit, it just makes me wonder what is in it for him? There has to be some motivation because he has refreshed the ad regularly for several weeks now.Hmmmm

Re: What would make this kit worth $4000???

Really? I figured for sure they were a "troll", just some collector wanting to show off pictures of his prize guitars and get the gear heads buzzing... I guess it's a double reverse troll.

Or...

Re: What would make this kit worth $4000???

He’s “staying wiggly” that is for sure. The ad keeps getting reposted. There was a person a few years ago who would post some “troll” ads in Cleveland, but they were much more entertaining....

Re: Repair split heads?

I bought a 25.5 in tympani that had a split head (single ply even) that had been repaired with what looked like camouflage duct tape, but it was more like thin plastic packing tape. If you have seen...

They are really good sounding drums for sure. The plastic bass hoops are fugly but perfectly functional. The tom mount brackets are the weak link in the otherwise well engineered hardware, but still...

My lame rants are only tongue in cheek. I really don't care about spelling, it just made me chuckle when I saw it, so I thought I'd share. If I thought the poster would have any chance of...
