Yes agree it would be better with more pictures.
Maybe picture with head off and the edges.
It does look a lot lighter then the catalog picture for sure.

There are a few different tension rods on this drum from what I can see.
I don't think it is brass either. as stated in my first reply.

I am still trying to figure out what happened to that poor snare.
It doesn't look like it is a brass shell.
It does look like it did have some plating on there but doesn't look like a BB.

That strainer looks like it might of been hit and is bent in at the arm. That could be why it is loosening. Grease or lube would just make it more easier to turn I would think, so I wouldn't add...

I bought some wrap (picture of my choice) from Bum wrap and wrapped it around the snare (Taped the seam) This is what it looks like. Can come apart very easy, didn't affect the drum at all.
