Re: Back In The Vintage Game... Slingy Style

slingerfan, the muffler is a single pad with J-hook.

Thanks again for the info and education. I'm a Slinger-rookie, so all info I can learn is most appreciated.

Cheers,
Ryan

Thanks, Josh!

Those pics in the OP are from my first gig with them, which was just last Friday. The guys in the band loved the sound and vibe. So far I couldn't be happier. Traded in a modern...

Re: Back In The Vintage Game... Slingy Style

Yeah, it's a Radio King. Slingerland just wasn't calling them Radio Kings in that particular time frame. The Super Krupa snares had the clam shell throw while the Krupa model had the 3-point. Info...

Re: Back In The Vintage Game... Slingy Style

Thanks for the kind words, everybody!

The tea towel, in this case, is a leather chamois. I carry 4 or 5 of them in my gig bag. On that particular gig, one of them was used on the bass drum...

Back In The Vintage Game... Slingy Style

After an extended holiday from owning a vintage set, I'm recently back in the game. Played some gigs a few weeks ago with a bassist who was using an original (not reissue) 1962 P-Bass. The lush...

Re: Rims Mounts

In my experience, isolation mounts (specifically Gauger RIMS mounts) have made a significant difference in the resonance and sustain of every drum I've ever used them on. The difference is enough...

Re: Pearl Jupiter 5X14 COB

Nice drum!

I own a 5" and a 6.5", both COB.

Mike, you owe it to yourself to try these drums out. They are total sleepers and can still be had on the cheap.

I've got my 5" tricked out...

Re: Ludwig 22x12 new yorker bass drum

OT slightly... Batterhead, I couldn't help but notice that on your beautiful BDP New Yorker set you have the bass drum unusually positioned, with the spurs on the batter/pedal side of the drum. ...

Re: 70's Acro serial number question

My pointy b/o badge 400 has serial #916569.

Paper sticker inside has date code stamped in ink: 21720. For whatever reason, I always interpreted it as a 1972 drum but don't know for sure.

Re: Zildjian hollow logo cymbals - value???

The Deep Rides don't come up that often. I know you're looking to flip, but I would spend some time with that cymbal before cutting her loose. These are sleeper cymbals! They have the profile of a...

Re: LM402 Supraphonic Heads

Can't really argue with John's helpful pointers. A coated Emperor is a great choice for the batter. I would have recommended a coated Ambassador as a first choice, but since you say you're a heavy...

Re: Astro Stencil Kit

Hey Barry!

No rings. They are thick shells and do not appear to be luaun. They are much lighter in color than any luaun I've ever seen. Same general color as maple or birch but with a...

Re: Astro Stencil Kit

Thanks, shorty

Gramps is a happy WWII veteran today!

Sorry I'm not in a position to ship this kit out at this time. All the interest I've had have been New Yorkers.

Cheers,
Ryan

Great looking set, Christian!

Interestingly enough, I just scored a 1982 Imperialstar kit in the exact same sizes as yours, although mine are wrapped in black. Mine sound fantastic, and I'm...
