Rogers 24 X 14 Bass Drum 1973 Fullerton

This drum was originally "Koa" wood wrap. I had Precision Drum rewrap it to Blue Onyx to match the Holiday kit I already have. One of the pics shows the 24" kick with that kit (i use the 20" for...

Re: Ludwig Keystone Badge headscratcher

Glad you're playing again! It's like falling off a log eh? A few gigs and you're back!
It would be smart marketing for Ludwig to have a custom shop, and you are right, it is a logical way to...

Re: Ludwig Keystone Badge headscratcher

Yes, probably Ludalloy...great sounding drum no matter what. This my first Super Sensitive snare drum, and no regrets at all.
I am curious though, if anyone knows when Ludwig discontinued this...

Re: Ludwig Keystone Badge headscratcher

Mystery solved. The drum is now in my hands, and has a Monroe NC label inside. So the badge is a modern one as is the drum. I don't know the drum shell material definitively and when I have some...

Re: Blue Onyx Crazy!

Thanks Ploughman; the S/N on my drum is 11921. So, Ohio or Fullerton is the question. And if 11 thousand range puts it to 1968, i think it could be either Fullerton or Ohio correct? Cheers, Drumact

Re: Blue Onyx Crazy!

Thanks Mark and Dan. I was blown away at how great these drums sound! I also added a '73 Fullerton 24 X 14 to use when I need a little more whomp! Here is the same kit with that kick. Precision Drum...

Re: Ludwig Keystone Badge headscratcher

Thanks K.O. and all. I care more about how this drum will sound than anything else, but I am interested in its age and history. If it is virtually new, that is totally fine.
And as someone wrote on...

Re: 1964 Rogers Constellation in Sparkling Green Pearl

Very beautiful set, thanks for posting this! The 14X14 floor tom is so cool; these kits always seemed to come with 16X16 instead.

Blue Onyx Crazy!

As a young aspiring drummer, I just thought Rogers was the coolest, and Blue Onyx was the coolest finish offered by Rogers. I decided to go find the drums I wanted as a kid.
The core of the kit I...

Re: Ludwig Keystone Badge headscratcher

Yeah, I guess that was a stealth COB question!
I will have the drum in my hands this weekend.

So far I've got these facts:
- No serial number on badge, no mention of Chicago....
- No tone...

Re: Ludwig Keystone Badge headscratcher

I always see "Chicago" on these badges, I had never noticed just "made in USA" before. But if this is a '60 or '61 un numbered badge, would that make this a chrome over brass drum? I am seeing no...

Ludwig Keystone Badge headscratcher

I am curious about a Ludwig Keystone badge on a Super Sensitive snare drum. The badge has the Ludwig script logo with crossed drumsticks.
Below the air vent hole, is written: "Ludwig Drum Company"...
