Re: Head choice

This.

I'd go with coated Ambassadors top and bottom. I love the look of the coated bottom heads as well. Those AM shells will sound great with them, I have a B303 kit with AM shells to, they...

Re: Vintage Olympic Drum by Premier

Yes, different hardware, but the same shells were largely used across the various lines. Not uncommon for companies to do that, saves on costs. TS's snare and mine are same era/same badge.

My...

Re: Vintage Olympic Drum by Premier

This. Not a maple single ply. I have a 60's, 1182 model (6 lug). I'm 99% sure its the same shell.

Re: Sold My Remaining Stencil Set Yesterday

Oh, you only had two stencil kits, I got the impression you had more experience with them. That's cool, its your opinion, nothing more.

I think we can point out some realities though:

Re: 60's Premier 'Beer Barrel' Hoops

Very much agree.

The live album, from Royal Albert Hall is still one of my all time favorites. It wasn't until after getting that album that I learned he only used his hands, only using one of...

Re: 60's Premier 'Beer Barrel' Hoops

Yeah, good point. I'm lucky that all my slotted tension rods are still nice and round. I guard my Premier slot key haha.

Re: 60's Premier 'Beer Barrel' Hoops

The 70's die cast Premier hoops are my favorite. Stiffer then triple flange hoops, but lower profile then regular die cast ones. Best of both worlds, imo. The chrome is amazing, the shape, design,...

Re: Premier Slotted drum key

BlairHolden on here might have one. You can also post this request on the various Premier Facebook groups. They'll sell between $25.00-$50.00, depending on the seller. I keep mine in a safe haha.

Re: Premier Blue Shimmer drumset

Nice score.

The 2000 was first COB, but only for a very short period. Then it was COA, final version was COS. I'm 98% sure yours is probably COA (most are). I've had several. Great drum....

Re: This is the Display Your MIJ Drums Thread

First off, welcome to the forum.

You have an amazing set there, and a great story to go with it. So cool to hear you brought them back to life, play and enjoy them. They'll keep you young ;)

Re: 20"x11 1/2" kick drum. Premier?

This makes sense. I had a JG kit (Broadway), and the BD was very shallow. That snare is MIJ. No clue on the tom.

Re: Yahama Drums??

Not sure those are in fact vintage Yamaha's. They look MIJ, but no way are they worth anywhere near $500.00 lol. I don't see any badges, etc.

If you're going to spend $500.00, there's MUCH better...

Re: This is the Display Your MIJ Drums Thread

Nice!

I scored a very similar kit off of CL a week ago. Mine has replacement black BD hoops, like yours. The 13" tom was wrecked years ago (by first owner), but it did come with a matching snare....

Re: Another Craigslist Rant............

Yikes.

If it's a drum(s) that I'm concerned about sizes, I won't come out unless they send me pictures of them with a measuring tape up against the drum(s). Edge to edge.

I've had some sellers...

Re: Star Drum Experts Help Please

Head preference depends on the sound you want to achieve, but I'll assume you want a nice, open, warm, vintage tone. In that case, you can go wrong with coat Ambassadors, top and bottom.

Have you...

Re: Star Drum Experts Help Please

Very cool. Yeah, they should clean up very nice. Agree with gran, Novus 2, then 1. They'll look like new.

Your bass hoops might actually be original. My Star kit has original wood BD hoops with...
