Re: This is the Display Your Sonor Drums Thread

Thanks, I plan to clean them up and put a couple new heads on them. Thin shells, they should sound good! Just need one lug for the snare drum.

Re: This is the Display Your Sonor Drums Thread

Scored a set of Swingers today. OK sound for such an inexpensive kit. Complete with hardware, key, snare drum and Avanti cymbals. Told they are about 1971, some ink stamps inside several are 208....

Re: Is my Acrolite really 1964?

Mike is correct, I used to have one with COB hoops and foolishly sold it about 10 years ago. It had a different sound. Anyone who say COB hoops done make a difference on a metal shell isnt listening!

Re: Ludwig Value

On an original kit like that? Definitely worth less. Comparing against the same unmodified kit, probably 20% less or more. It would have to be sold as a players kit.

Re: Recut Bearing Edges on Valuable Vintage drums?

Yes, to any collector it devalues due to altering the originality. Ludwig and others often had some rough edges, seen it. 50+ years later they get worse.
There are exceptions as many vintage era...

Both drums are excellent choices, however, what style or situation your going to use it in has to be considered. Both are versatile drums. The BB will cover a wider range, but as the owner of a new...
