Re: How Do You Play? Matched or Traditional Grip?

Both of course, but there's more grips than just those two.

I'm a little pi$$ed off about this topic right now, because one my percussion students was recently chastised by an audition "judge" for...

Re: Record Covers with (vintage) Drums on!

That second cover is hilarious! How is that cymbal arm staying there? That poor tensioning nut on the cymbal mount must be tightened to the point of stripping...

Re: 1930- LUDWIG & LUDWIG 5 x 14 CHROME/ENGRAVED SUPER-SENSITIVE MODEL

Absolutely stunning. Interesting that it took a material engineer's expertise to determine that the shell was chrome plated before the engraving and not after. But if the engraving was done into...

Re: OMG Say it isn't so . . . Neal Peart has passed

Just read the sad news online. What a loss to the world of rock drumming. I've always told my students to listen to Buddy Rich for jazz, and Neil Peart for rock. He was an incredibly intricate,...

Re: What are the rarest Slingerland wraps/finishes from th 60's-70's?

I remember so many garage-band drummers in the early 70's stripping the wraps off their mismatched, orphan drums and leaving the shells bare wood, or, rewrapping orphans with fabric or contact paper....

Re: Vintage Cymbal Stand Innovation...

Back in my gigging days, I used a Ludwig Atlas stand rather than a tripod to mount my video cam. I liked the smaller "footprint" of the cymbal stand. A standard tripod just took up too much floor...

Re: Let's see your drum room!!

.
I believe a drum room should be pristine and aesthetically pleasing with all drums displayed in an inviting manner such that visitors feel they are almost viewing drum catalog photos. Lighting...

Re: 30s pioneer at auction

I agree. We shouldn't be in a rush to "restore" every old drum we come across. Some, like this one, should remain untouched. I'd play it in its as-is condition.

Re: LATE 1950s *SEIMATONE/BEUSCHER (FRANCE) 6 x 14 NO NAME **SUPER-SENSITIVE (COPY

Mike,

Thanks for sharing this gem, and all the others you post. The engineering on this one is impressive. I like how the loose ends of the batter snares pass through a felt strip to prevent...

Re: Wrap repair hack

I think cutting it into an angular, irregular shape would make it blend even better into the irregular diamond pattern or the wrap.

I tried something similar for a missing bass hoop inlay that was...

Re: Ginger Baker dead at age 80!

For many of us rock guys, it was Baker, not Bellson, who inspired us to convert to double-bass kits back in the day. And how about his unique version of cymbal stacking before there was such a...

Re: This is very funny. I hope that the drummer was OK

Forget the apparent apathy of the audience and the rest of the band. The real villain here is the idiot who leaned an unsecured, 8-foot cross up against the wall believing that it would magically...

Re: Rogers WMP Headliner

Nice pic of the cymbals. I'd like to see more of the kit. Is that FT a 14x14 or the more rare 16x14?

That's hilarious. That guy has a great sense of humor.

I'd buy it if I could get a couple 4"x20" bass heads.

I've never heard of this Gbase site. Which country is it located in, and what's the U.S. dollar equivalent of that asking price?

Yes, beautiful kit, and I can't wait to see the beauty it's traded for in two months. I love JR's rotating collection.

Re: Rogers experts please

A pic of the badge number would narrow it down, but from the Big-R style snare gate, this would be a late Fullerton script Dyna, maybe 1973-1974, just before the Dyna's got the Big-R badge.
