Hi all!

I've been in touch with Catherine via both PM and personal email. Thankfully, she is not in a rush to deal with the set. When the time is right for her, we will meet and discuss...

Re: Fair price on PEARL kit??

Pearl's fiberglass shells were really good! The drums appear to be in pretty good shape. The prize, however, is the 60's Ludwig Acrolite with BB muffler! Also appears to be in pretty good shape. That...

Re: Buying Direct From Delmar?

Hi DrumBob!

Delmar did produce a short run of Mardi Gras pearl for Precision Drum. Precision had to guarantee a minimum order to get the wrap. Many of our members, including myself, pooled our...

Re: 1968 Buddy Rich Played Slingerlands

Here are some pictures of my beautiful 1968 BR 80N kit! They were just sitting in cases, so I sold it to a forum member over at DFO who plays them out with his big band. I couldn't be happier with...

Re: Help with wrap color

Hi DrumBob!

I was going to comment about Peacock Pearl not being correct. I'm attaching a picture of my Lido Supreme snare drum, wrapped in Peacock Pearl.

Re: PEARL hoop specs

Trying to find new hoops to match what Pearl was using in the 60's and early 70's will be difficult. The standard hoop at the time was 1.6mm, triple-flanged, and the ears, where the tension rod...

Re: Help with wrap color

Actually, your kit is a 1968-69, as evidenced by the Rogers-style mufflers in the toms. These were used for only 1-2 years, beginning in 1968. I had a 1968 Whitehall (Pearl) kit with all the same...

Re: Help with wrap color

Hi yyco67!

Attached is a picture of wraps offered by Pearl in their 1969 catalog. Your wrap might be a batch variation of the "Blue Grain Pearl".

Re: Opinions: Hawthorne Drum Shop

Well said!

This has been my whole point. I'm not here to attack Chris and Hawthorne Drum Shop for offering up some good vintage drums. As everyone has already said, Chris is a stand-up guy. That's...

Re: Nice Gretsch White Satin Flame Kit

Hi V!

Your friend is offering a wonderful looking vintage Gretsch kit...and for a very fair price! The finish, while dirty in places, appears to not have the typical cracks. Is this correct?

Re: Supra Phonic 1965

Your Supraphonic looks great! It looks like the muffler handle is rotated 180 degrees?

It is possible to have a COA shell with no pitting. I had a 1968 Supra that had been kept in a closet for...

I'm with Mark on this. I just would not trust them to properly pack this kit up. Yes, it's really going to be a miracle if nothing gets broken during shipping!

As to the snare drum, it sure looks...

Re: Rogers 1960s R-380 snare

Hi Mikey!

Like Dave said, the shell is COS. These were well-made drums! I found a shell on eBay that only came with the muffler. There was no sticker on mine, but I believe it to be the R-360....

Re: Opinions: Hawthorne Drum Shop

I'm enjoying this thread, as it's been done in a very positive way. It's always true that a seller can ask whatever he/she wants. But, as noted, this is what has been driving MIJ prices up! It...
