Re: This Is a New One!

Pearlescent plastic toilet seats (made of the same stuff as wrap but made from blocks of the stuff instead of sheets) used to be quite popular.

Re: Ludwig Super sensitive without badge. Help needed!

Of course you are correct sir. I was picturing a Ludwig (post 1955) SS drum but if it's an older Ludwig and Ludwig then yup, it might have never had either.

Re: Ludwig Super sensitive without badge. Help needed!

Sounds like someone pulled the badge off. Surely it had one originally. A lot of SS were used in school programs where badges can be the first thing to get ripped off. Post a picture and someone can...

Re: Ludwig Bass Drum Question

All the modular mounts I've seen are placed at the front of the drum like it is there. They had to change the positioning of the badge to accommodate the new base plate oriented out front (just as...

Yeah, modular system mount set up very weirdly.

Re: Got A Psychedelic Red Ludwig set yesterday

Heads like this did not exist as an available product at that time. I don't really know that much about Bonham's equipment (well I know a fair amount but it's not something I've investigated deeply)...

Re: Quick question about a ludwig supraphonic snare

This model has evolved a bit over the past almost 60 years but they didn't change dramatically from year to year...so what year it was made is of some interest but doesn't really matter in the grand...

Re: Can anyone identify this drum kit or lugs?

metal hoops and six lugs on the bass drum coupled with Pearl style mounts on a non-Pearl set = most likely a cheaper "stencil" type set. Might not be bad as a starter or beater set if they are...

Re: Got A Psychedelic Red Ludwig set yesterday

Do you mean on that last picture of the bass drum with the new head? That's an Attack no resonance head which is essentially the same thing as a Remo PS3 it has the internal extra ring of mylar along...

Re: Got A Psychedelic Red Ludwig set yesterday

Haven't had a chance to try them yet but with the new top and bottom heads I put on to replace the thirty-plus year old Evans hydraulics (over Remo muffles) that were paired with old (original?) reso...

Re: Early Gretsch Bass Drum Pedal 30-40's??

Yeah, I bought a cd-rom of catalog scans off ebay about 20 years ago. Though incomplete they've still been a very valuable resource through the years.

Re: How do you determine the Date of a Rogers R-360 ?

Just to clarify, those R-360s were an import line made for Rogers by Yamaha but the "real" Rogers of the time were still being made in the USA by the Rogers Drum Co. (or whatever the official name of...

Re: Re-wrap or real? Ludwig experts please weigh in

Looks real to me. No one has ever quite accurately duplicated that wrap. People do harvest original wrap off old bass drums so it is possible to get a piece. And I have heard tell of people opening...

Re: Identifying snare drum with missing badge

MIJ (made in Japan) which may have been sold under literally a hundred different names which is why they are called "stencil" brands. An importer ( J.C. Penney's, Speigel, Montgomery Ward, Sears,...

I'm not sure where that information comes from but I do not recall that being an option nor have I ever seen a higher end Ludwig model with the black and white badge. Looking through my pile of 80's...

Re: hi, question for my 60's ludwig vintage drumset..

50's and early 60's drums had the small knob. BB style was used from approx. 1963 to late 1968-early1969. Large knob used after that. Sounds like all yours have the correct mufflers in place and...

Re: Ringo's "Ed Sullivan" Snare- Great article on Reverb

That's set #1 of the four Ringo had in OBP. The one that was sold by Ringo a couple years back. It never received the Swivo modification like the other three did. So it's also the only one of the...

Re: Got A Psychedelic Red Ludwig set yesterday

Seems fitting as I did spend an inordinate amount of time staring at this picture when I was in Junior High back before I finally got my own Hollywood set (Chrome-O-Wood) in 1975.

Re: Got A Psychedelic Red Ludwig set yesterday

I wish, but seems unlikely, don't know any local guys with mod orange sets that they might sell at some point. I do have an Element SE in Mod Orange, that'll probably have to do.

Nope, I had...

Re: Clubdate Badge, Never Seen This One

Newer imported "Club Dates" from about 4-5 years ago. Nice drums for the money. Now there is another new Club Date series that (I believe) is made in the USA.
