Re: R.I.P., Aretha

I've been following the news reports about Aretha. Very sad indeed. I was even more sad to learn that she passed from pancreatic cancer, same as my dad. Thankfully, they both went fast. PC is a b***h...

Re: Slingerland Drum research, help!

Hah! I got lucky! I kept looking at that one tom and the position of the lugs around it just looked odd, so I thought it was an optical illusion from the "hidden" rack tom. Every now and then I'm...

Hi woody1953! Another option for cymbal lathing, and much closer to you, would be Maxwell's Drums at their Chicago location. Here's a good link......

Re: Slingerland Drum research, help!

Hi Rick!

Ok, from your new pictures, we've now got confirmation that it is the New Rock Outfit 50N. A very nice kit! And, except for the color, it's not what Buddy played. I'm attaching pictures...

Re: Slingerland Drum research, help!

Hi Rick...and Welcome to the forum!

Looks like a nice kit, but definitely not what Buddy played. K.O. did a good job of explaining the setup used by Buddy. What I THINK I'm seeing in your one...

Re: Upper hi hat tube

I looked through all my boxes of parts and found this tube. Took a picture next to my original Rogers Swan-leg tube and the length is identical. How lucky is that?!! You can see small bits of chrome...

Re: Upper hi hat tube

I believe the Rogers also has a fixed cymbal seat. Are you looking for just the tube and then you'll add a seat to it?

Re: What would make this kit worth $4000???

Honestly, I don't think it's a scam, but more of a clueless seller. If you look at both the CL and eBay posts, they are both from the same area/city. The pictures that were posted here of his actual...

Re: 1967 Sparkling Gold Downbeat Kit

Hey OldSchool! A beautiful Downbeat kit! The finish looks more like Champagne Sparkle. Is it just the lighting?

Re: What would make this kit worth $4000???

Hi Robyn! Ya know, what's really odd about this is that the seller has an excellent feedback rating. Looking at what he sells, he normally provides many pictures. I just don't understand why he posts...

Well, his kit just showed up on eBay! And, check out his price! Part of his description says "This picture is a reference picture. If you are interested. Email me for specific closeup shots."

Re: What would make this kit worth $4000???

Exactly! I also doubt he'll answer my question about why he chose to use a picture that is not his actual kit.

Re: What would make this kit worth $4000???

To keep this going, I also messaged the seller about his kit and why it's the exact same picture as posted on the UK website. Here's his response...

Thanks for the link! I don't know why I thought it was a Rogers! Still, I'm not sure I get the high price for a Super Classic kit. What am I missing?
