Re: Snare Identification

Obviously, has had the top rim replaced with what looks like a Ludwig rim (different plating and curved edge like my Ludwig's). I'm by no means an expert, just an old ****, but I'd guess MIJ seeing...

Not meaning to throw any flames, but I don't think this is correct. From what I've read the shapes come from religious design and have nothing to do with defeated sultans. :)

Re: Old Man Rant: How hard is it to spell cymbal?

Ludwig-dude has it right. As an ex-teacher, my last run-in with a principal was over 'teaching to the test'. To hell with grammar, spelling, or creating a sentence that conveys a complete thought...

Re: Drum hard case

Those are very good cases....I've used similar hard cases for all my drums since 1965 and they've traveled with me all over the US without any damage....even when exposed to pouring rain in an open...

Re: Old Man Rant: Something I hope never happens to drums.

It's interesting to hear the restorers, collectors, and interested parties discuss, to me, what is deception versus 'real' or unrestored. I'm old and seen a lot of drums. I've mentioned, on this...

First off I'm all for your efforts of building a nice gold sparkle set...Just have patience Dionne.

Re: 68’ Ludwig Hollywood’s?

After reading Zenstat's reply I figured I'd add the serial numbers of my 1965 Hollywood set (I'm the original owner and the drums all came together a few weeks or so after I ordered them). This...

The 2nd and 3rd picture are of nuts with collars that are used in various manufacturing/manufactured products...I have used them many times in IT electronic cabinets. Typically they (the nuts with...

Re: That modern kit must have

I'm a vintage owner, probably only because I have always been poor and have placed utilitarian use above collecting or bragging rights throughout my life. I've always spent as much as I could...

Re: Help with value of my Ludwig Set

Your Ludwig hi hat appears to be a standard model from circa 1965...or at least it appears to be identical to the hi hat I've owned since 1965.

Re: New Year Pasadena Rose Parade Marching bands

Have nothing to add to the lack of US drums in the Rose parade. I can add some positive vibes to this by saying I've marched in the Rose parade several times as a member of the South Gate Youth band...

Re: FOR SALE: Vintage 1965 Ludwig 20" Club Date Bass Drum in Champagne Sparkle

Thank you...I stand corrected, enlightened or both. You are right about my bass height specifications. Never really considered the diameter being the key...and therefore effecting the lug number. ...

Re: FOR SALE: Vintage 1965 Ludwig 20" Club Date Bass Drum in Champagne Sparkle

Pardon my ignorance, but I have a question. I am by no means trying to detract from that great set drfills has for sale. It looks great, but there's a question your bass brings up that I've puzzled...

Re: Direct sunlight fade?

I realize the question involves sunlight's fading effects on drums, but after reading Drum69's reply I believe sun light (UV) is only partially to blame. The atmosphere deserves an honorable mention...

Re: Ludwig drumset identification

Though I don't claim to be the level of authority that some of the other members claim, I have played Ludwig all of my drumming life. (Presently 66 and retired) I agree with everything said here. ...

Re: 22" Old K--New Stamp--2360g.

Please have patience with my lack of knowledge. I've been thinking about adding another 22 inch to my set (all my cymbals are 50's small stamp A's). What does it mean 'old K--New Stamp'? I'm only...
