This is a great part. But I discovered upon arrival that, in spite of what I had read in some other reviews, it is for a...

Re: Identify Black Beauty

I had a 2014 LM402 with the same badge. I don't recall that it had a serial number though.

Re: Identify Black Beauty

That's a modern drum, so the 2012 date makes sense. Serial numbers on Ludwigs made after the late 1980s are random and can't be used to date the drum.

Re: Strange seams

I like the Red Silk kits. As far as I know they're not very common, especially with a 26-in kick. Nice kit. If I had to guess I'd say that's an '80 to '82 era kit due to the 10 lug 14-in tom and...

Re: Jason Bonham`s Led Zeppelin Experience - Vintage Written Music at it`s Finest!!

Cool. I'd like to see Jimmy's previous band- Led Zeppagain. They sound pretty good too and their drummer is fun to watch. 'Kick It Like Bonham' on youtube.

Re: SONOR 8 pc Phonic Series Rosewood in/out 1975 Centennial RARE & EXCELLENT!

Sure is a gorgeous kit. I think it's incredible that they don't have scuffs and scratches after 40+ years. I play wrapped kits for that reason. Good luck with the sale.

Re: Future Vintage?

Interesting topic. Mainstream/popular music is becoming less soulful with less human influence due to technology. Unless software becomes collectable I don't see what musical instruments could be. ...

Re: Ludwig Legacy mahogany nw Ludwig

I'm no expert, but I think the rounded bearing edge is a bigger contributor to the sound. I think I can tell a difference between a mahogany inner ply and a maple inner ply. The mahogany seems to...

Re: Ludwig B/O Black Panther kit

I think it's a good deal, especially with the snare. I doubt that will last long, or it wouldn't where I'm at.

Re: Worthy Project? - Big Beat Set?

Looks like a maple cortex 6-ply kit from about 1980. Are the spurs on the same side as the badge on the kick drum?
I believe the badge was moved from the reso side to the batter side when modular...

Re: Why do people dent your heads ?

People get carried away. I've certainly dented my own ambassador heads before. Since using coated ambassador X heads I haven't dented any. If you like the sound of single-ply heads with durability...

Re: Ludwig snare input please

The badge looks to be low on the shell, but the grommet appears to be original. I've had a blue cortex tom before, 6 ply like your snare.
Here are more blue cortex drums:

Re: TAMA Artstar ES - Japan / Taiwan

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what happened to the official Tama forum? I used to visit there but can't find it now.

Re: FOR SALE: 1970s Ludwig 6.5x14 LM402 Supraphonic Snare drum in *amazing* condition

She's a beaut. My late 70s Supra had some pitting. It's crazy how some of them don't have pitting like yours. Apparently, the owner(s) took care of it. Maybe it came from an arid climate too. ...

Re: Calling all 70's Ludwig Shell Experts

The shells look like 6 ply Ludwigs to me. I'd guess early 80s.
The claws look like aftermarkets.

Re: Where can I get a Spring for this Old Tama Pedal

Might be a strange question, but are you in Nashville? There was a guy who had the same issue with a Tama pedal at the Cobra bar last week.

Re: Where can I get a Spring for this Old Tama Pedal

It appears that your pedal needs a tensioner as well.

Re: Painting Ludwig bass drum hoops

To answer your questions-
Based on what I've seen, repainting the hoops doesn't seem to devalue drums, therefore, it's reasonable to believe that repainting them wouldn't really increase their...

Re: Questions about a Ludwig Black/White badge Copper Snare

Reverb has a write-up on it. It says it's from the 2000's.
There's also a 5" & 6.5"brass version of the drum and the drum in the reverb pic looks like brass to me. I think the drummer for Dr Dog...

Re: Ludwig Atlas tom mount and vintage 3 ply Sligerland shells

I've used the atlas mounts on 13" and 14" 3-ply Ludwig toms with no signs of stress/deformation over a 2-year period. I would assume that the psi on the shell would be similar to or even less than...
