Re: Ludwig Burgundy sparkle

Hi Cam,
Sometimes close enough is good enough especially when trying to match old wraps to what's made today. 12x16 (15?) makes a great floor tom, I'd finish it with the Precision wrap, the...

I play vintage Slingerlands so can only speak of them. I own two of the "Student" model snares. One is a mahogany/poplar/mahogany Chicago era bought off E Bay. It had been knocked around, recovered...

Slingerland 10x14 shell

I'm looking for a Slingerland 3-ply w/rings 10x14 shell. I prefer Stage Band center lug version which would probably be a marching drum. Snare OK but a Tenor would bring the biggest smile. If wrapped...

I'm looking for Slingerland Stage Band Toms; 8x12, 9x13, 12x15 and/or 14x14 in dark blue sparkle. Dark blue sparkle is a mid-sixties color and prefer very good plus condition. Thanks

Re: Slingerland light blue pearl wrap Q's............

Glenn,
Unfortunately none of the present LBP or similar wraps are close to old Slingerland LBP. The pattern on the new LBP is different than the vintage Slingerland, it's more horizontal or strata...

Re: Consollette End Cap Rattle

Pry the caps off, clean the surfaces, put a thin bead of clear bathtub silicon around the outer edge of the cap, press it in, clean up any schmutz that may have oozed out, problem solved.

Re: Removing wrap

Been my experience you can easily tell when the glue guy at Niles had a bad day or previous evening; the wrap seems to be shot welded to the shell. As mentioned, patience is the most necessary tool...

Re: Is this salvagable?

Was an impact wrench used to attach the lugs at some point??
If you can get it for 25 it would be a challenging project.

I haven't a clue as to the grommet you need but you might be able to carefully cut a long one down??

I'm restoring a mid to late 20's Leedy Professional snare and am missing...

Re: Who on here was looking for Leedy slotted t-rods/lug

Re: Slingerland 1966, 6 lug snare

Agree 130 to 140 tops. They are interesting drums, I have one. Took me awhile to get it dialed in and I'm still not 100% there. There are a set of Japanese snare wires on it and I'm suspecting...

Re: Felt for lugs

Ditto on ease of removing springs. Since my first kit in '65, I've only played Slingerland. There always seemed to be one lug that would sympathetically buzz. Cotton balls took care of it; I remove...

Re: Slingerland Radio King - 1939 Buddy Rich

I've got a '38 RK snare. When I got it over 20 years ago if could best be described as what they call in the dog pound world a "rescue". The marine pearl wrap was beyond yellowed; half-dozen...

Re: Jazz Kits - Which One Is Magic For You...

I built my jazz kit using early 60's era Slingerland shells. Bass was a 16x16 floor tom, 8x12 a Stage Band shell and the floor tom a 12x15 marching snare.
I used repro Radio King lugs and vintage...
