Re: Do you ever feel overwhelmed with all your gear?

I don't have nearly as many kits anymore....and I'm STILL overwhelmed by having too much. I don't gig anymore and these things are just taking up space. I would sell the rest of it (except for maybe...

Re: 1968 Ludwig Downbeat

Nice kit!

I have a '67 Downbeat kit in red sparkle with the matching Downbeat snare and gull-wing fold-out spurs. I also have a VERY-close badge number Jazzette bass drum in red sparkle, too! So,...

Re: A general consensus ?

For me, it was the Rogers blue sparkle.....and also the piano black....I think the black just set off the tremendously-cool-looking Rogers script badge and the Swiv-O-Matic hardware better than any...

Re: Ludwig identification

Yeah, man....always nice to find something like that.

As far as value...not much. It isn't a matched set and the bass drum has been altered in a major way. The finish is cool, but not...

Re: Ludwig Vistalite Power Factory

I'll bet that kit will be fun to play. I'm already doing the descending tom lick in my mind just looking at them! ;)

Re: Shell I.D.?? George Way?

It's kinda weird to me that the grain is running vertically. It leads me to believe the shell is foreign. But I can't be sure. It's not an Eames on second look. Most Eames shells I know of don't have...

Re: Another Zickos Supersonic has Surfaced. Some questions now...

Those Supersonic shells were hand-made by a guy who did them on a commission from Zickos. I think he made fiberglass boats as his main job. Seems like it was a little town somewhere in MO or Kansas....

Re: ZICKOS Drums

I have a Zickos prototype bass drum, currently, and also had a whole set of prototypes from the mid-70's. All of the shells were made from green or amber fiberglass with a white gel-coat paint over...

Re: Matching Serial Numbers

The numbers on two toms, apart from the rest of a complete kit is fairly insignificant. In the case of clear Visualities, I would imagine the condition to be the deciding factor on value. Apart from...

Re: Ludwig Jazzettes

Here is the '69....INCLUDING the MATCHING Supra! I've seen lots of Jazzettes, but this is the most complete and original one in my experience, because of the matching Supra. The only things missing...

Re: Ludwig Jazzettes

Oh yeah! It WAS '64. I forgot that! I'm absolutely certain that the Jet kit was specifically catered to Roy Haynes and his Alpha Romeo...or was it an Opal GT? I forget these details in my advancing...

Re: Ludwig Jazzettes

Yep, the Jet kit was as specific as was the Jazzette when it came to the small bass drums...and I believe it was all due to the "fight" for the Haynes endorsement -trying to fulfill his wishes. I'm...

Ludwig Jazzettes

Okay, so I still have two red sparkle Jazzette kits -a 1967 and a 1969

Years ago, I wrote an article for Not So Modern Drummer Magazine about the Ludwig Jazzette kit. I learned a lot in my...

Re: Hello. I can answer questions about Arbiter Drums

Man, I have never regretted getting my kit and then later adding a 16 X 16 FT and then someone from this very forum had a really good-sounding matching snare that I bought....I think they are just...

Re: original Alice Cooper band Mai14

First band I ever saw, too! One of the older high school kids had to go with me to "chaperone"!

I think Neil was playing a chrome Leedy/Ludwig kit that night. Great memories!

Re: Premier Resonator BopKit, what's it worth?

I love some Premiers, too. I didn't realize the Resonator line lasted that many years. The shells were just SO massive and heavy.
