Re: P87 strainer Dean going mad tensioning snares

I'd place a "wanted ad" here and on the other big forum as well, DFO.
An alternative is to pick up a donor drum with parts you need, but that may not have the quality you're looking for (but it does...

Re: P87 strainer Dean going mad tensioning snares

When I saw the image you posted I thought that maybe you have the incorrect synthetic gut "wires." The parts catalog shows the length as 16-1/8" (see the parts catalog image, part #9) and I'm...

Re: P87 strainer Dean going mad tensioning snares

My Coliseum had the No.1110 snare wires on it and there wasn't the type of overhang that you have pictured with your "gut" snares. See the attached catalog image for reference.

Is there a part...

Here's a link to the .pdf file:

EDIT: Nevermind... the VDF site posts an image of the .pdf rather than a link to it???

Re: I'm back using a Ringo throne-ouch!

No...
But have you considered recovering your Ringo seat using better quality and more supportive material if the footprint (or butt-print in this case) is more ideal vs. your larger seat that cuts...

Re: Quiet practice pad?

I would suggest checking out the RTOM Moongel workout pad... if you want quiet, this is the pad. I have the Reflexx, but this is a tad quieter, and is slightly lower in pitch than either side of the...

Re: Re-wrapping Tip on Seams

Also, you may consider a "yard stick" for this tip as well.

Re: Ludwig COB and 26'' Bass Drum (And more!)

Can you upload those pics into the thread rather than via the link?
That way the images can stay with the thread in case you change anything on that hosting site.

Re: Can We Talk Sticks?

I started out on Ludwig 3S (these are big marching/drum core style sticks) because my local drum hero used them... so, good enough for him, good enough for me!

Then I started taking lessons and...

Re: Your thoughts on Cympads?

I bought a pack of these recently. Not sure of the size but I think they were the thicker ones... actually I didn't even realize that made different thickness.

It's hard for me to tell if they...

Re: 1971 Ludwig Bonham kit 26

I've not heard of it either, not that I'm the Wizard of Webz or anything... I couldn't find basic info from a 2nd party to learn a bit more. However, I did find a "gear" forum postings from 2007: ...

Re: 1971 Ludwig Bonham kit 26

I'll certainly echo these thoughts.

Mojo isn't inherent in the instrument, it rest with the musician.

That said, I really don't understand the idea of paying such a high premium for some...

Re: Hal Blaine's kit for sale

Even for non-celebrity own stuff as well. I see that he has an LS403TD67WMAVH1, aka the 2009 (Ludwig 100th Anniversary) Alex Van Halen rosewood snare drum listed for $2,995. OUCHIE!!!

Re: Ludwig 1976 Red-Silver-Blue kit on eBay

WOW! I didn't notice the crooked seam/poor wrap job the first time I looked at this kit. I just saw it was a re-wrap with Granitone shells, so I moved on pretty quick.

I think if this was on...

I'm just going to echo this... great looking, tidy room.
I think it's every drummer's dream to have a nice calming (& well stocked) space for their passion.

Re: future of drumheads

No I don't sell Mylar.

I just don't see a practical reason to move away from Mylar, unless there is a call to reduce plastics in the waste stream as they simply don't degrade well in a land fill....

At first, this seems like an easy topic to dismiss. However, I would think that this idea would be much more viable when the world decides to get a grip on managing its waste streams, particularly...
