Re: Ludwig Jazzettes

My almost first set was a Leedy Jet in champagne sparkle. Today, it would be incredibly rare. I say "almost," because it went back to the store from which it came the next day. It's a long story that...

Re: Latest Score: Stewarts In Orange/Gold

Another member here recommended tung oil for those luan shells. I'll start with the rack tom and see how that goes. I've often heard that drummers coated the insides of their shells with tung oil or...

Re: Latest Score: Stewarts In Orange/Gold

Yes, I used them on an outdoor gig, with less than new heads, and the toms sounded OK, but the bass drum was not good, even though it was mic'd. The resonant head on the front was an ancient one with...

Re: First post: Ludwig on Craigslist - Rocker?

It never ceases to amaze me that people can't take better photos of drums when they're trying to sell them. You'd think he could take the towel, or shirt, or whatever it is, off the snare drum, and...

Re: Latest Score: Kent Snare

That's exactly what I have. Same color. I thought it was rare. I understand about the strainer. From what I read, they were poorly designed and often broke, just like the one on the drum now. I...

Re: Latest Score: Kent Snare

It's definitely black, unless the finish was blue and it's faded to black. I'll try to take a real close-up photo tomorrow.

Re: Latest Score: Kent Snare

I can't see in your pic the finish good enough to tell you what the finish is . Do you have a better pic ?

Latest Score: Kent Snare

One of my favorite local music stores is changing hands and they've had a big blowout inventory clearance sale before the new owners take over. This Kent snare with the nifty case was found in the...

Re: Ok What Do You Think of Pearl Hardware?

I have old Pearl hardware from years ago that I retired because it was so massive. It's built like iron. I don't think I've ever had a piece of Pearl hardware fail on me. I've graduated to DW...

Re: Slingerland-to buy or not to buy

I think they're a re-wrap done well, but in any event, it's a beautiful set, and if you're serious, make a lower offer. The Super Set-O-Matic is a much more useful tom holder than the original, which...

Re: Crest Jazz set

"The drums sold immediately for six times my investment thx."

He got his $395. Oh well. I would have loved to have bought that kit.
