Re: Success! Removing chrome from Supraphonic

Bumping this thread to follow up w/ the OP. Any luck on the polishing? I recent acquired a pre-stripped Supra and I do think that I'm far too cheap pay someone and just to polish this thing myself.

Re: Am I dumb?

I don't like to sell stuff unless I have a real reason to. My particular fancy goes this way and that so I like to keep myself with gear that I like even if it isn't getting a lot of use in the...

Re: Rare Camco set: To restore or not restore, that is the question

Yes, please do. That way he will document the restoration and we can all enjoy the restored kit. I do love a good restoration thread. Helps keep my GAS in check. It's like an appetite suppressant for...

Re: hole fill ludwig obp

Jiminy! That is quite the patch job. I had to jump between those last 2 pictures several times to find where the repair was. Great stuff.

Looking much more fresh that those before pics. Good job.

What will you be using as a clear coat over the revitalized wrap?

Beautiful job there. What did you do to the bearing edge to bring it up to code?

Re: Gretsch 70's Factory Wrap Glue - Sand or Solvent?

While I can't speak specifically to Gretsch drums I have had a bit of a time getting glue of many drums.

Check out this thread for a good bit of wisdom....

Re: Aging Cymbals...Removing Shine?

I have used a combination of salt and lemon juice. Heat the mixture a little bit to dissolve the salt then add to the cymbal. Leave it for a day or two, it'll crust up and turn the color of old...

Re: Edgware: convert a 14 x 10 marcher into a 14 x 5 snare

Wow! Great job, that looks factory.

I'm curious to hear more about this hand-laid flake finish. Is it similar to the process of applying a sprayed on flake finish? I'd like to learn more about it,...

Re: Vintage W&A Kit Restoration

Mind Blowi I can hardly believe that wrap is original. Superb job. Only thing more I could ask for would be a video clip. I just want to hear the low end that the bass drum put out. I'll bet its...

Anyone every try a Gelcoat?

Backstory: I traded with a very nice pro drummer for a Rogers kit with a pretty mangled wrap. De-wrapped the whole kit, fixed some ply separation issues and cleaned up the hardware. The shells are in...

If anyone asks just lie. That kid did a great job. Hopefully he signs up here and we can make a vintage drum aficionado out of him.

Re: Thinning The Herd

Woa Momma! That Leedy is quite the looker. Curious to see what you're asking for it. I probably won't be able to afford it but I am still curious.

Re: I found a great product for removing residues and adhesive "gunk"...

Thanks guys! I'll pick one up and give it a try. Thankfully I play with trad grip on my L hand so the thumb blister hasn't affected my playing.

Re: Vintage W&A Kit Restoration

Beautiful job you did on those tacked heads. That wrap looks brand new also. Wonderful stuff. I'll bet you're going to smile like a kid on Xmas when you get to sit down and play this beauty.

Re: I found a great product for removing residues and adhesive "gunk"...

Basically the same stuff as GooGone isn't it? I might have to give this a try. I'm removing the glue off a BD shell and Citristrip isn't cutting it. I also tried the heat gun and putty knife, very...

Re: Vintage W&A Kit Restoration

Would you look at that? Looks like a similar design to the one you see on older kits, that look like a big ol' spring.

This thread oficially is my new favorite thing.

Re: Old Lud Wrap Removal for Reuse?

Tim and Human71, just need to give you both a big thank you for our advice. Went and bought a heat gun from Harbor Freight and found my putty knife and made very short work of that wrap. No more...

Re: Gretsch Player Project

Beautiful kit! If it were my find I would just get it to playing shape on the cheap, taking care to not have to drill any extra holes, and play it till the neighbors called the cops.

Take my...

Re: Old Lud Wrap Removal for Reuse?

Laughing H

Haah! I was actually stripping a beat up black wrap from some Rogers this weekend and sliced my index finger up. Then I re-opened the cut this morning while putting my shoes on.

Is...
