Re: What's up with head prices going through the roof?

My guess is it is due to petroleum prices going up!

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

O-Lugs! I read your post above and certainly do agree with everything you say. My initial response to the Rogers kit was that there were so few pictures, many fuzzy, and no relevant information in...

JR...

Being retired, I do have time to spend to impart my decades of knowledge with vintage drums and try to educate those who appear less informed. While I can offer that knowledge, it can still...

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

O-Lugs!

The Gladstone drum you are referring to ended 8-17-19. The seller ended it with the following explanation..."This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available"....

Re: Another High Priced Vintage Kit For Sale

Whether I'm interested in buying is irrelevant. I still have the right to ask, politely, how the price was determined. The seller responded back to me again and said that he's played all over the...

Re: Looking for Atlas Stands

I already sold Josh an 1124 hi stand in great condition! The snare stand is relatively easy to track down. Atlas cymbal stands came in two base styles. They're out there, but just a bit tougher to...

Re: Early 80s Ludwig?

The black/white badges were used on both the Rocker and Rocker II drums from the 80's. These drums didn't have the riveted wrap. My Rocker II was a nice kit, with Classic lugs from the factory.

Re: eBay listing that infuriates me!

Yes, all the "cool young drummers" dig vintage gear, meaning "Ludwig", simply because it is still a viable company. How many of them have heard, or care, about Camco, Fibes, Rogers and Slingerland? I...

Re: eBay listing that infuriates me!

Hi Hobbs!

I honestly don't remember about your snare drum! However, I am glad that we are able to have friendly communications!

My intention with this thread was just to express my bewilderment...

Re: eBay listing that infuriates me!

I'm onboard with the posts by DrumBob. Yes, the majority of lookers know that the seller is a "loon", but I see nothing wrong sending informative messages to let the seller know about the market....

Re: Bass drum identification

Yes, this is the 6-ply "Classic" maple bass drum! The Ludwig 1984 catalog shows two different sets, with 20x14 bass drums, with the 1/2" L-1308 arc spurs in the same position as those on your bass...

You are correct about the market dictating the end result. My message to the seller was to only instill some reality as to what he has. First, we need to take into account that he is a guitarist and...

eBay listing that infuriates me!

Hello VDF members!

From time to time, all of us see listings of drums on eBay, CL, Reverb, etc, with unrealistic asking prices that we all just shake our heads and laugh. I found this recent...

Very cool, John! The bass drum serial number is D21685. Your Dyna would have been an ideal match for Catherine's Big R kit!

Hi Doug!

Greatly appreciate the compliments and that you enjoyed the thread. It's been a wild ride. I've had lots of kits over the decades, but none have taken this amount of time. Then, again, I...
