Re: Would you trade?

That's a gorgeous kit!

And that's an interesting library of used heads behind it... makes it easy to experiment with a new config?

Re: Would you trade?

Thank you everybody!

After doing some reading, I've ordered new heads: Evans G2 clear for batter, G1 clear for reso. I've found a number of posts claiming the Evans G2/G1 combo helps to moderate...

Re: Would you trade?

Decision made, and the trade is done... I have the Vistalites now.

The condition... O... M... G... there are NO cracks on any lug at all. There are some very minor scratches. Chrome lugs shiny...

Thanks, but I think the Vistalites are going to keep me busy for a while.

He sent me high res photos of the drums. I'm very impressed! We're supposed to meet Friday and inspect the drums. Crossing my fingers...

Re: Would you trade?

Yes, it's a Performance with the smaller lugs. but I'm not sure "less desirable" would be always correct. A lot of DW guys on the other drum forums like the smaller (less mass) lugs :).

Re: Would you trade?

Also another negative: he lives a 4 hour drive away. I can't really see the drums unless it's an agreed-upon trade. I have good photos of them, but it's not the same as seeing them in person.

Would you trade?

I've been offered a trade, and I'm having trouble making a decision.

The offer: a college student has a 1974 red Ludwig Vistalite, 12/13/16/22 with snare, near mint condition. He wants to trade...

Re: Vintage Gretsch wrap issue

That may be past my skill level. I've been emailing Precision Drum, maybe they have some ideas.

Re: Older Asian-made drums in this forum section

Thanks, leedybdp! I certainly agree with your comments.

As far as being "elitist" I guess you could count me in. I will not own MIJ brands (Pearl, Tama, Yamaha) but I admit my dislike is due to...

Vintage Gretsch wrap issue

Hi all!

My vintage Gretsch arrived, and as you can see from the photos, I have some wrap issues on the bass drum. One side shows some damage to the wrap itself, the other side just shows some...

Re: Would you buy it?

No, I found mine on Reverb. It's a 3 piece with no snare, 13/16/20 and there is slight wrap lifting on the bass. And substantially less money!

Pics will come when it gets here, hopefully before...

Re: Would you buy it?

Thank you everybody!

I passed on the Ludwig set last night, and two hours later I found a near mint 1960s Gretsch set! Burgundy sparkle, Jasper shells. Guess where the money went? ;)

Would you buy it?

I have an opportunity to buy a late 1960s Ludwig drum set. Beautiful wrap, very well kept. 8/10 or better condition. 12/13/16/22 set and the owner is willing to add a 1970s Acrolite snare for a...

Re: Slingerland Sparkle Orange 14x20" Bass Drum

Cancelling the ad...

I found a sparkle gold late 1950s Artist's Series snare on Reverb, so I've decided to keep the bass drum and build up another kit of orphans. Thank you everybody!

Re: Slingerland Sparkle Orange 14x20" Bass Drum

I had that pointed out to me on another forum, too. Sad part is that I knew it, just had brain flatulence when I posted the ad. I must be getting senile ;) .

Slingerland Sparkle Gold 14x20" Bass Drum

I'm thinking about selling my Slingerland sparkle gold bass drum. It's a brass Chicago badge (1956-59) but a previous owner took off the consolette and installed a Set-o-matic mount.

Wrap is very...

Re: Vintage Gretsch? What have I brought home?

16" Floor tom:

Sometime in the past, somebody spray painted "U.S." on it. Maybe it was something like a USO drum?
Very clear date stamp inside: JUL-7-1953
Same badge issue as 13" tom.
Also...
