Re: Fibes snare drum

True enough on finding OEM Fibes wires .. and .. truth be told, the quality of the OEM FIbes wires has always been a tad low. However!, PureSound came out with exact Fibes SFT replacements, but those...

Re: Fibes snare drum

Hello!
Looks GREAT! Very clean, and no extra holes. Goes without saying that your drum is the Fibes Crystalite shell which was their version of the then very popular acrylics. Fibes were much higher...

Re: Fibes snare drum

Fibes have no specific dating system, and their use of serial numbers was primarily for inventory control, so the badges .. there were FOUR different styles .. and certain aspects of their hardware,...

Re: Getting the Logo Off

Dan!
Yeah .. except .. he used it on a SMOOTH head, not a coated! I still think you're going to lose some of the coating on a coated head with almost anything you try. Not worth the "risk" and...

Re: Getting the Logo Off

Hey Dan!
Truthfully, if there is a difference in sound, it's barely perceptible! I will offer that without the coating, but in the same weight/Ambassador, plus the one felt strip that a lot of use...

Re: Getting the Logo Off

Dan!
I can't say if that's the case .. but .. it has always been tough to get the logo's off COATED heads without as you have mentioned, removing some of the coating. So ... I just use SMOOTH white...

Re: Pearl B4514 Resto-Mod

Yes indeed! This model was offered for quite a while making it's debut around 1972, and staying in place through 1982. In that time the air vent location moved and the butt piece changed. The...

Re: Pearl Jupiter Resto-Mod

Hello!
Most certainly a 70's model .. but .. can you show a pic of the butt piece? There were two: The "sliding T" and the "thumbscrew" butt. The "T" style is earlier, but both are still from the...

Re: Pearl Jupiter Resto-Mod

Nice job on your "Resto-Mod"! .. but .. this is not a PEARL "Jupiter" model snare drum. Very common misconception on these! What you have here is the PEARL B4514 model snare drum. The B4514 and the...

Re: Pearl Jupiter/B4514 brass or steel?

Hello!, and ...
... you read CORRECT! I have had three of the late 70's PEARL B4514's, and they all had three lines around the shell, and they were all COB. I still have one in my collection...
