Re: Supra Strainers

Many of the '69 Supras and Acrolites came with the 12 hole black face P85 strainer. As a collector, I always prefer originality. But there were tons of Supras made. And they were made to play! An...

Re: WTB Rubber tips for club date retractable spurs

Those spurs came on mosy Club Dates, but they are not exclusive to those. I've had those on several Super Classic drums. Here is where I buy mine:

Re: 1960's Keystone 6.5x14 superphonic year made????

In the mid 60's, they were transitioning from brass hoops to steel hoops. They apparently just used what was in the "bin" during installation. Pretty common on '65s.

Re: 1960's Keystone 6.5x14 superphonic year made????

I've got several drums near that serial number with date stamps inside. That is a Spring '65 drum and most likely a March '65 drum. Red or White felt bat muffler would be correct. Could have brass or...

Re: Anyone Recall a Type IV...

I recently acquired a 21.5" Type IV in that weight range Joe. Not currently in my possession for a sound file though. Liked it enough to buy it!

Re: Ludwig COB

The trans badge Super 400s came with 3/4" round knob mufflers with round black felt. They can be a little hard to find sometimes. If you can't find the correct one, Ludwig used another 3/4" round...

Re: ZILDJIAN 17inch

Appears to be a 60's model from what I can see. I have seen some of the "hollow ink" models (late 70's-early 80's) with a 60's stamp. But i do not see any of the hollow ink outline on the underside...

Re: '66 Ludwig Student Festival

As far as the brass hoops, '66 was towards the end of the the brass hoop time frame. Many '65 drums have one steel and one brass.

Re: 1969 Ludwig super classic

Both are from Ludwig's glory days. Gary mentioned the difference in the interior plies. But both are 3 ply shells with re-rings. Both have center poplar plies and both probably have mahogany exterior...

Re: Ludwig COB hoops history

Rotarded is right on the money. Some other tidbits of mid 60's hoop info....I have had two different '64 Pioneers with nickel over steel hoops. Have many '65-'66 drums with one brass and one steel....

Re: Ludwig P85 Throw-Off - help needed.

They would go in between the throwoff and the shell then. Have seen many original drums like this.

Re: Ludwig P85 Throw-Off - help needed.

If you only have two washers, they should go inside the shell and then the retaining nuts which should have a made in lock washer. On some Supras, Ludwig did have washers between the shell and the...
