Re: Shell ply query

+1 with what slingerfan said. That shell should make a great snare drum!

Re: Sonor Ruby Pearl Teardrop

A beautiful 60's Sonor kit! The first Sonor kit I ever saw was at Wallach's Music City in West Covina, CA. It sat just outside the practice room where I was taking lessons. The offset lugs on the...

Re: 6-Lug Beverley snare battle.

Hi Roosto!

I know where you're coming from with this issue! What I've found to work wonders are "equalizer" snare wires. Puresound makes them. Just Google them! I've even made my own from wires I...

JR...

Thanks for the update. Good to hear that she has an appetite! I have no doubt that this is difficult for both of you. You being home alone and your wife at the hospital. And, we all know...

Re: Mirage Drums

I bought a similar set from a thrift store some years ago. Also $25, but no snare drum. The 8x12 tom is a 4-lug and the 13x15 floor tom is a 5-lug. It was a Sound Percussion set, wrapped in plain...

Re: UV damaged Satin FLame/Moire?

Kurt,

That is interesting that the 20 BD is a one-piece wrap!

Re: UV damaged Satin FLame/Moire?

Hi Kurt!

Sounds like you've got your resto project cut out for you! And, yes, modern satin flame just doesn't have the same "wave" pattern as the original.

Re: UV damaged Satin FLame/Moire?

Hi kdg!

I saw your same post over at DFO. As dtk said, "once it's gone, it's gone"!

Here are some pictures of my MIJ Revelle snare drum, in Blue Satin Flame. I purchased it like this! Must have...

Re: Mirage Drums

Hi Olimpass!

Yep, for $25 I'd buy them, too! Looks like a 6-lug bass drum and snare drum. What's the lug count for the toms?

Re: Slingerland snare drum on eBay!

Hi slingerfan! I completely forgot that the solid shell snares had no dates or P stamps! I just looked inside my solid shell, pre-serial, Niles Artist snare drum and it is as you mentioned.

I...

Re: Slingerland Yellow Jacket question

Just faster return of the beater. The extra weight of the footboard, rocker and linkage dictates more spring tension. Slingerland probably didn't want to look for a single spring with more tension,...

Slingerland snare drum on eBay!

Hi all!

I love surfing eBay for wonderful vintage US-made snare drums and sets. This one caught my eye, so I thought I'd check it out......

Re: Slingerland Yellow Jacket question

Hi MB!

Very true about the K.I.S.S. principle! Modern pedals are, indeed, way too over-engineered!

I did have a "Jesse" SK and, in all honesty, it was a wonderful pedal! The action just wasn't...

Re: Slingerland Yellow Jacket question

You are correct, sir!

My 60's Swivomatic, with new bearings, is fantastic! I also have a selection of Tempo King pedals that are above average in build quality and performance. I've never owned...

Re: Slingerland Yellow Jacket question

vm2k is correct, too! He's had nice examples and they just weren't that special. But, then again, I feel the same about the Ludwig Speed King. While many rave about it, I found it unacceptable for my...

Re: Slingerland Yellow Jacket question

Hi eamesuser!

I've had a Yellow Jacket pedal some years ago. It builds on Slingerland's Tempo King pedal, but uses dual springs and a direct metal linkage to the rocker. There is also a nylon...

Re: Slingerland Deluxe Student Sparkling Green Pearl

Hi eamesuser!

I started collecting the Slingerland Deluxe Student snare drums years ago, when everyone was just passing them up and prices were low. Then, the word got out that these 6-luggers...
