Re: Slingerland Phantom

Late '72 - '75 according to Dr CJ Wenk. Your serials suggest the earlier end of that time frame. Seems too early for the Super Set-O-Matic tom mount. Did you add that? It most certainly works...

Re: Slingerland Vent Badge Location on Snare?

According to Dr CJ Wenk the badge was placed to the right of the throw-off late '60- early '61. On these drums the tone control is in the panel 180 degrees opposite the badge. The more common...

Re: Help with Slingerland Champagne Sparkle

Nicely clustered. "Born together". Probably Krupa 1N as Mark stated.

Re: Help with Slingerland Champagne Sparkle

Tension rods and claws on BD are not original. Pretty easy fix. BD hoops are '74-up with chrome inlay. '68-'69 +/- for that serial number. Are the other serials close? Set-o-matic should be...

Re: 1941 Swing Sensation "Top Hat and Cane" Original

Doesn't that describe every piece of vintage drum gear that is still in existence?

Re: 1941 Swing Sensation "Top Hat and Cane" Original

OK, modified original. From a purists point of view no longer original.

Re: 1941 Swing Sensation "Top Hat and Cane" Original

Fantastic kit. If Dick Vandenburg is not the original owner and his initials are on the BD head then how can that head be original?

Re: Old Calf skins, worth keeping?

Mike Currotto identified that logo in this post:
http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=62087 He claimed it was mid 20's so either he is mistaken or that head may not be original to the...

Re: Slingerland Pre '62 PINK Duco??

No serial number on drums originally equipped with that strainer. Upper hoop is not original. Lower hoop is also suspect. Skewed strainer is a concern.

Re: Star 1961 Radio King Clone

Numbers wise this clone may be more rare than a real Radio King! Like it, thanks.

Re: Starr Fest

Very interesting statement. Initially I was thinking "who wouldn't want one". Is it an "American" mindset? It is sort of a contrived collectable.

Re: Slingerland Tom Help

Late 50's to very early 60's ('58-'61). Extra holes and interior ply damage will negatively affect value.

Re: Vintage 1960's? Leedy floor tom drum in sparkling gold pearl.

P-0x0 stamp used later 1960 and earlier (per Dr CJ Wenk). Date stamp is not legible to 100% accuracy. Drum has definitely been tampered with. All details considered; '58-'60.

Re: Vintage 1960's? Leedy floor tom drum in sparkling gold pearl.

The badge with the 48 postal code is '62 and up. Leedy toms did not have badges from '61-mid '66 so either someone added the badge or the date stamp is not OCT 1961.

Re: Vintage 1960's? Leedy floor tom drum in sparkling gold pearl.

If date stamp is Oct 1961 then badge is not original to drum.

Re: Vintage 1960's? Leedy floor tom drum in sparkling gold pearl.

According to Dr CJ Wenk that particular badge was used '58-'61. No badges on toms from '61-mid '66 so that narrows this one to '58-'60. The mahogany interior, dual pad muffler and P-040 stamp are...

Re: Slingerland bass ID

Per Dr CJ Wenk that badge was primarily used on marching and juvenile drums. Looks like the "universal" build type. Check for a date code inside, would help with identification.

Re: Slingerland pc jazz set 1958-59 p_020

Badge is '59-'61. Hardware layout narrows snare to '59-late '60. Great kit in desirable sizes. Technically snare is simply a "Krupa" model as Slingerland had stopped using the Radio King name...

Re: Slingerland snare ID please

+1 with longjohn and FER428. Era correct Zoomatic and extended butt alone are almost worth the asking price.
