Re: Slingerland Hollywood Ace question

I would tend to agree with this price! However, condition and rarity of the wrap can force prices up! I have pictures of thousands of kits and snare drums from eBay. A Hollywood Ace, wrapped in Capri...

Re: Ludwig Value

Hi Nick! I'm assuming you're referring to me?!!

So, I'm a "Ludwig Lover"...LoLoLoLo

Yes, I've had quite a few vintage Ludwig kits over the decades, but I've sold every last one of them as I was...

Re: Ludwig Value

Hi jr!

It's a tough call as to how much the new edges de-value the kit. Anytime a vintage kit is modified, it can lose value. The new edges appear to have a sharper profile than the original,...

Re: 1972 Slingerland 5" x 14" Sound King snare drum

I would say that it does change the value. I would put a higher value on the drum with the black/brass badge and COB hoops. Both are fine drums, though.

Re: 1972 Slingerland 5" x 14" Sound King snare drum

I would agree with a 1969. IMHO, these brass shells, with round-over edges and aluminum lug backing plates, are the best version of the GK Sound King snare drum. Add in COB hoops, which your drum...

Re: Slingerland, can you id this snare

This drum started out life as possibly a Student model snare drum. Given the mahogany interior ply, I'd say this could be no later than a 1962. The Black/Brass badge, with no serial number, was used...

Re: Rogers Red Sparkle 20, 12, 14

Dan!

Your kit is a real beauty...and one of my favorite Rogers finishes! I hope they find a new home. Best of luck to you!

Re: Finally finished my Rogers restoration

Wow...the glow on that finish is incredible! Reminds me of a bowling lane after it's been cleaned, waxed and buffed by one of those automatic machines! Congrats on a beautiful restoration!

Re: Lido Supreme...just a Lido with sour cream?

Yes, just different style lugs! As you can see, they are the Slingerland copy lugs.

Re: Another crack pot seller on ebay

Well...I'm not sure how to respond to this one! OK, so it's "brand new in box", but I still don't get it! I could see MAYBE $300, but $3000?!!! Of course, it only takes one buyer who just has to have...

Re: Slingerland question...

Exactly! If I were to be interested in Slingerland 5-ply shells, I'd be factoring in the cost to get the edges leveled! Still, the asking price is already fair!

Re: 14" Rogers floor tom value

Hi Luke!

Yes, this is the tom I found on eBay. It appears that it sold, but is being re-listed? Was there a non-paying bidder?

Hi jda!

Thanks for answering! Yes, romulus, you're going to have to track down this earlier Lightning strainer. Prepare to pay big bucks for it! Best of luck with your search!

Re: Slingerland question...

Bucky,

That set is reasonably priced at $595 + $200 shipping. Like you, I don't have any need for a kit this large, plus, I'm just not crazy about the 5 ply shells...AND...I don't need any more...

Re: Gretsch 4160 SSB Lightning throw

I just found these pictures on eBay. This one sold just last month for $85. Another one sold around the same time for almost $135! Looks like they can get pricey!

Re: Gretsch 4160 SSB Lightning throw

Hi Romulus!

I'll post some pictures of the two different styles of the Lightning throw off. The first is the one I believe you are looking for. It has the two bolts on the bottom and one on top....

Hi Al!

Great score...and well worth the drive! Yep, that MIJ kit is wrapped in Pearl Fantasia, aka Fantasia Pearl! I've got a Star 6-lugger wrapped in this finish.

Can you post a picture of the tom in question? I looked for it on VDF, but came up empty.
