Re: Where's the EAK Post?

Your comments on the 4x the force being hype were Bettis' opinion as well.

On the subject of Sabian Hand Hammering, they do hand hammer the HH cymbals hammer to anvil, but after preliminary...

Re: Where's the EAK Post?

True. All we can do is take the bits and pieces and make sense of it. Back then there was a desire to keep the production methods close to the vest to be as old world as possible. Now that all of the...

Re: Where's the EAK Post?

You are misunderstanding me. I am not referring to the drop hammer although the cymbal book says it was still used by Zildjain in some cases. They were hammered via a mechanical hammer giving it...

Re: Where's the EAK Post?

You have to re read my entire post. The answer is yes, they were. This has been confirmed by some of the hammering artisans. However wither it influenced the sound or was mostly cosmetic is another...

Re: Old K vs. Non Old K

At the time they really weren’t advertised as being made in Canada. If you look at early 80’s Gretsch catalogs, you can see where they changed the wording to "Hand-made cymbals by craftsmen from...

Re: Where's the EAK Post?

The Canadian K’s were more similar in manufacturing and design to the early Sabian HH series, which were made by the same cymbal smiths when the Azco factory in Meductic became the Sabian factory ....

That is a K Dark Crash from 1987-early 90’s. The K Custom Dark Crash was introduced in the mid 90’s.

It's a China Trash. The model was introduced around 1993, so this is an early one before the laser engraving.

Re: Vintage Paiste 3000

I'd love to have that Thin Crash. In general, 3000's aren't all that rare and pop up quite a bit on ebay. But you see mostly Rides and Hats. Not a lot of Thin Crashes survived the era in excellent...

I had the 3000 Power Crash and 2002 Heavy Crash from the same era and the cymbals were different. The 3000 Power Crash has lathing similar to the Signature series. It had a bigger cup and a fuller...

Re: Zildjian

In the early 80ís just about every A. Zildjian Ride was available in 18Ē or smaller. Through the 80ís and 90ís most of them were phased out. The 18Ē A. Medium Ride was available until 2005.

In a July 1988 Modern Drummer interview he said he was using Paiste 602ís, but he didnít list specific models or sizes.

In the Sept. 1990 MD, he said he used a 22Ē 602 Ride, 602 Thin Crashes and...

Re: Zildjian "Hollow Logo" Dates

Sorry, but you are mistaken. They didn't start using it until the end of the 70's. As I said above, with all of the pictures of drummers out there, all the mag interviews, ad's, etc, you don't see...

Re: Zildjian "Hollow Logo" Dates

Zildjian started using the open logo in 1978. At some point in 1982 they switched to the solid black logo. It's pretty easy to pin these dates with all of the literature, artist pictures, concert...
