Re: What age did you start drumming?

Re: Fred Armisen... “Stand up for Drummers”

It's Armisen... dry, intelligent, creative humor. Just enough belly laughs sprinkled in to make it worth watching. I fell out of my chair when he did the decomposing fox. I loved the old drum kits...

Other than what you did, I was going to suggest you find a Man. LOL I'm glad you muscled it off - sometimes it takes brute strength to get some of those old drum...

And thank you!

That thing must be a real firecracker! Small and shallow, high and tight. Be-bop!

Re: Snare Drum Rewrap Project

Niiiiiiice!

Open the vent hole Tim. If the air can't get out when you hit it, it could set up some weird sympathetic vibrations that can mess with the sound of the drum. Maybe not... try it and...

Re: Ludwig 2A drumstick dimensions.

John - I don't want to derail the thread, but you've touched on something important and a little elaboration will benefit the young whipper-snappers. We can go right back to the thread I just want to...

Re: Zilco by Azco

Dan - I believe that there is no difference. 'Zilco' was just a model name, like the Rogers. Both were manufactured by Azco and like their Japanese counterparts, they would simply add whatever...

Re: Snare Drum Rewrap Project

Tim - Nice job man. How well does the new sky blue pearl match your other drums? It really is different from the old school SBP. It's going to look killer when you put it back together. I have a 1960...

Re: Ludwig 2A drumstick dimensions.

Jim - Yarp! Them be's the ones. Heavy shaft, short taper, acorn tip with that weird little collar under the bead. I recall them being pretty thick and solid, but then I'm a 7A guy so any rock sized...

Re: Mid 50's Leedy New Era

Slingerland made some fine drums in those days. I will never figure out why they don't command the same price as Ludwig, or Gretch kits from the same era. The only drums they produced that get any...

Are those the ones that had that funny little collar just below the bead? I remember those from the 60's. If memory serves they were pretty heavy sticks. I don't know the dimensions but do you use...

Mark, I don't know how I missed seeing these! Truly a Classic drum kit in every sense of the word. I love the aging on the WMP and those Leedy lugs. Nice score man.

I was waiting for you to chime in! :D
