Here is a large portion of my Ludwig snare drums.Top shelf is a mixture of sizes and ages.The sparkles are Pioneer snare drums from the 1960ís.

Drastic temperature changes like you mention are not good on the wood or wrap on vintage drums.Temp regulated storage would help these drums live on much longer.

Well!That's a fine pickle you've got me in.No doubt the decal/tag on mlayton's 1938 practice pad is the same as mine on a tambourine and wood block.Guess it's been around longer than I thought.

I got this drum from an antique dealer friend of mine.He is very fluent in guitars and drums along with stereo equipment and cameras( other stuff too) and he hasn't seen any of these I his near 50...

Ludwig catalogued PEACOCK PEARL from 1928-1932.This example still has reasonable color and is overall in excellent condition.
