Re: Rogers Red Onyx Drums

If only that was a 22" bass drum, I would be interested.

Re: Will My Toms Fit On This Stand?

It's about an hour. I'll just go with the smaller L arms if I pull the trigger on the stand.

Will My Toms Fit On This Stand?

There's a Ludwig double tom stand for sale nearby. I'm wondering if my '67 Ludwig rack toms will fit on this stand. The bracket holes seem to be 7/16", and the seller said it appears the mounting...

Re: RIP Hal Blaine

Someone said of Hal, "I used to listen to all these bands in the 60's and liked the drummers. Then, I found out that all my favorite drummers were Hal Blaine!" I'm very upset about his passing. This...

Re: RIP Hal Blaine

That's very nice. Thank you.

Keep at it. It's never too late to start playing.

Re: RIP Hal Blaine

This one really hits home. I was thinking about Hal the other night after the band did "Be My Baby," and I was telling everyone how I'd finally met and seen Hal at a clinic at the Long Island Drum...

Re: 1968 Walberg & Auge Perfection Jazz Outfit in Rogers Blue Strata Pearl 20/14/12/1

There's a W&A set for sale around here on CL. It's also a mutt kit, a five piece in rock sizes, and I would love to nab it. The finish is Ludwig's Red Strata. They look great. The guy has been trying...

Re: Rogers Re-Wrap

The only person's opinion here that matter is yours. They are your drums. Recover them a color you choose, not the colors we choose.

WTB: 60's-70's Red Sparkle Singerlands

Prefer original condition, but a great player's grade set with good mods is OK, just no open drill holes or re-wraps, please. Need 13/16/22, or 12/13/16/22. Would consider 13/14/18/24 set also. No...

Re: Happy Valentines Day - Show off those Red Drums !

This is a good place to post this: I'm casually looking for a 60's-70's Slingerland red sparkle set in original condition, 13/16/22. I passed on one last summer out in PA and regretted it. Found one...

Thumbs down Re: Ludwig 75th Anniversary "Eagle" Kit for Sale on Ebay-Big Beat Configuration

Really. Those things would never darken my door. Ugly as hell. Can't imagine what Bill Ludwig was thinking when he dreamed those up.

$400-$450 is reasonable, IMO.

Re: Ludwig-Slingerland Legal Briefs on ebay

Bill Ludwig and Bud Slingerland despised each other, but they came together in '55 when Bud bought Leedy and Bill got his name back from Conn. There were also times when they helped each other out....

Re: 1950s Cymbals with John Grey Kit

I too was going to say UFIP. Back in the old days, there were few cymbals choices. You got Zildjian, or you settled for something less. UFIP was the stencil cymbal maker of the day, in that they made...

Re: Civil War "Yankee" snare

I agree with the above. That is not a Civil War era drum at all, and antique dealers have a tendency to guess on value of things of which they know nothing. Also, antique dealers are very often the...

Re: Unusual Rogers Find

Tangerine sparkle re-wrap, and odd sizes, IMO. I wouldn't bother, but that's only my opinion. I'd say maybe $400 if you really want them as a restoration project. Ditch that 12x15 marching drum and...

Re: Slingerland Fade

I'm glad you like them, but I would recover those tubs faster than you can imagine. I couldn't deal with that fading at all, but if you like them, play them in good health for many years. ;)

Re: Any idea what these cymbals are?

Brass. I'm almost 100% certain. Not to be a downer, but I wouldn't expect Zildjian quality.

Re: G.A.M. vintage copper snare - does anyone know how much these are worth?

Anything made by Spizzichino is worth money these days because he passed away a number of years ago. His cymbals are highly prized, mostly by jazz drummers, because they sound similar to the old K....
