Re: Least HOF Worthy Bands/Artists

Discussing who belongs (or shouldn't belong) in the R&R HOF made me research the criteria for membership. It's actually interesting...

Re: Big ass CB700 kit.

Not a big fan of the matt or satin finishes, but I have to say that those look great. Very classy look. Nice job!

I think I have a pair of those tom mount/brackets. I bought them with the...

Re: some lucky dog is going to win this....

Nope, I didn't get it, but I wasn't too disappointed as I'm not a huge fan of the Duco finishes. Now had it been WMP, I wouldn't have dropped out at any cost, because it sure would have been the...

Re: Carl Palmer

As a teenage hard rocker in 1973 banging away to Black Sabbath, Grand Funk, Deep Purple, etc., Brain Salad Surgery blew me away when I first heard it. I had never heard a rock drummer play like Carl...

Re: some lucky dog is going to win this....

Non-Rogers reso hoop and new lug screws on the bottom lugs, but no big deal considering how rare this shell is.

At this moment, I have the high bid, but we'll see how high this gets.

Re: Rogers Mardi Gras Holiday

Beautiful. That wrap is so desirable that I'm surprised it's not available on the new Dyna's.

Re: If vintage drums were vintage cars then what's what?

KDG,

I think you nailed the Rogers/Gretsch analogy perfectly, but missed on Leedy. I think Leedy = Packard, only because very, very, very, few people in the 1930's could afford to buy a...

Re: Rogers 6.5X14 Holiday in WMP

Simply beautiful. A work of art. And your choice to photograph it in black and white only makes it more artistic.

Re: Rogers grey interior

Yes, that looks like someone sanded down the interior. Why someone would sand away a perfectly good speckled interior is anybody's guess, but it won't affect the drum's sound in any perceivable way....

Re: Ludwig Hand Hammered Brass Snare Damaged....HELP!!

I have to agree with K.O. Bring it directly to an expert instrument repair guy (not to some drum shop who is just going to ship it out to a repair technician). I've seen these guys do amazing work...

Re: Rogers Dyna-Sonic Snare Case

I use a foam-padded hard case for both my 5x14 Dyna and my 6˝x14 Dyna, but any case should work as the snare frame does not extend below the snare gates on the reso hoop. The snare frame will not...

Re: '59 Ludwig Trans Badge Super Classic OBP

Absolutely stunning! Congrats on acquiring such a museum piece. I'd be afraid to gig it.

Question regarding the spurs. I just sold a 1959 transition badge 20", but it had telescoping spurs,...

Re: Identify Black Beauty

Aside from the badge, I'm more curious as to what those little black gaskets are on the threads of the tension rods. Never saw those before. Purpose?

Re: Mystery bass drum-need help identifying

Light sockets were installed by the factory in bass drums and timpani to create a heat source. Calfskin heads are easily affected by temperature and humidity; the warm light bulbs kept the calf...

Re: 1967 Rogers Blue Strata

Also, a 7-line Dyna should not have a Big-R era snare hoop. Aside from the missing snare frame and wrong hoop, everything looks about right. Fine drums. The seller is incorrect in stating that...

Re: Getting the Logo Off

I no longer attempt to remove logos from coated heads. As KO mentions, the logos can just be oversprayed with flat white. We've had a few threads here discussing spray painting reso heads. The...

Re: Calling all Rogers Experts!

This is certainly an interesting and unique custom-ordered set, as not only weren't 18x20 bass drums offered in the Cleveland era, the Cleveland catalogs (and parts catalogs) didn't even offer 18x20...

Re: Drum Companies and Their Worst Ideas

Yes! So true! So maybe one of the worst ideas from a drum company was to remove the internal tone controls in an attempt to maximize resonance, and then offer a clip-on muffler to minimize...

Re: Why do people dent your heads ?

Speed metal? Okay, enough said. Yah, you're going to dent Emperors along with just about any other head designed for moderate to heavy playing. To withstand the brutality of speed metal, you may...

Re: Why do people dent your heads ?

Yes, I march in parades regularly and play fff on a Fiberskyn3 head using Vic Firth "Ralph Hardiman" model sticks with nylon tips. I've yet to put a dent in the head. There are many heads made for...

Black Label,

Wow, someone really put a lot of time into painting that kit. Not only did they take the time to paint all the hardware black (who wants that ugly chrome anyway, right?), but they...

Re: Best way to clean brushed metal wraps?

I'm unfamiliar with Mapex drums. Is this finish actual brushed metal, or is it a metal-colored wrap? Big difference in how you're going to clean it.

And being unfamiliar with Mapex, I'm really...
