Re: Quick tip on protecting wood hoops from pedal rash

It depend on the type of teeth on the pedal I guess. Mine have smooth surface (vintage Rogers with rubber disc clamp) instead of some I have seen with shape teeth edges.

Either way, protecting...

Re: Quick tip on protecting wood hoops from pedal rash

I use Moleskin for shoes myself. Get the kind with the adhesive backing and it stays in place until you replace it.

Comes in strips or larger pad you can cut to size.

Re: Restoring a PAINTED Ludwig Super Classic set

Likely the paint is the rattle can spray type. I have used graffiti paint remover from Home Depot with good success. Use a plastic paint scrapper dragged backwards to remove the old paint - easiest...

Re: Why do people dent your heads ?

The sound level of a drum head being hit only goes to so many DB. Hitting harder does not increase the loudness, just shows the drummer does not understand the physics of drumming.

Re: Picked up my dream drum set today

The indent does not look like a physical bump of any kind, and factory paint on it. Factory rering with a extra bit of scarfing - not a problem to worry about. Been there a long time............

Re: Maple Hoops Anybody?

Quality hoops - have bought several times. Flat edges, no inlay channels.

They have a service charge on some orders that might not show up until check out, so maybe double check that.

Re: Satin Flame wrap cleaning

Scrubbing Bubbles works well. Damp sponge wipe down. As mentioned, soft bristle brush for hard dirt.

Re: Rogers Value

With cracked wrap, meaning that the other shells have the same potential for cracking, I would be treating this as a rewrap project. Not more than $400 if the hardware is in good condition.

Re: Help identify and value please.

Pull a head off and see if the wrap under the drum head edge matches the rest of the shell. That will help with a true color of the wrap.

Check with the Vintage Identification tab at the top of...

Re: Rogers or Not

The broken lug looks like Rogers in the 50's. Should have a Rogers ID somewhere by badge or interior tag. Pic of interior or at least the throwoff is a good indicator to check.

Re: Floor tom to kick conversion - seeking advice

Usually you are correct. But I have seen some tom lugs still work, but with expected splay of the tension rods. It will depend on the brand as you suggest.

Re: Floor tom to kick conversion - seeking advice

Either hoops will work. Tom and BD heads are different, so try with standard hoops and see what you think. Personally, I like the look of wood hoops on my bd's no matter the size. Have 2 sets with...

Re: Floor tom to kick conversion - seeking advice

Think the easiest change over would be to get some generic legs and bend / modify then to use on the existing mounts to hold the tom in place - either on the floor or raised as required for the pedal...

Re: Rogers kit barn find ANY/ALL info appreciated!

Right now you are asking for information kinda like "I found a Ford in a barn. What do I have?"

Koa wrap was offered from late 60's to mid 70's. Gonna need more information to offer anything...

Re: Help identifying this Ludwig Strata finish

Using an online color sheet, it could be either Bronze or Gold strata. Picture lighting might be coloring the shell a bit.

Re: Question regarding re-wrapping and old glue

I have used a critic based remover and let it sit for a while. In my case (Rogers Big R shells), it would turn a white-ish color as it reacted with the shell. I tried using a metal and plastic...
