Wanting to buy Ludwig or similar in LA or SF

I'm making one of my rarer trips from Sydney, Australia to the US west coast, starting on 1 September in San Francisco and returning from Los Angeles on 12 September.

I am very keen to buy at...

Re: Camco No. 99 Super muffler needed

The Vintage Camco group on FB is your best bet. A heads up - there are 3 different hole configurations on the mufflers dependent on manufacture era. Make sure you know yours and that the seller knows...

Re: Shell I.D.?? George Way?

I was thinking perhaps early DW. I had an '82 snare a while back which I sold on so don't have any internal shots for you to compare with. But that squared off glue-ring at least nods to proto-DW.

Re: Camco BD Spurs & Mounts

The Zickos ones are the same as Camco (in fact, they were Camco).

Re: Sydney drum show 2016

Next gig I have is with my Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood Experience at Camelot Lounge in Marrickville on Sunday, Sept 25. Not exactly a gig where the drums are front and centre though...

Re: Sydney drum show 2016

I got the drums already drilled for the Rogers mount but missing the actual hardware. It's not uncommon to see 60s Camcos with Rogers hardware.

And, yes, I play it. It's now my only kit but I have...

Re: Sydney drum show 2016

The one with the 18" X 12" inside. I also used to own the large maple finish oval Camco badged beast.

Re: Sydney drum show 2016

I was there but only just noticed this thread. Sorry I couldn't have IDed myself. The 3D Moire Camco bop kit is mine.

Re: Camco Value

I think I'd be a bit more bullish than $1250 too...and if you're doing ebay make sure you open it up to international.

There are people outside the US who will pay a lot more for what is for them...

Re: Camco snare restoration

I think we've already had this conversation over on the FB Vintage Camco group but very early Camco (I'd guess 62/63) before they put USA on the badges. Aristocrat (round lug) snares are a rarity...

Re: Camco gurus....

Hard to say with the stoppers on them. They used that type of straight leg with a sharpened end for 18" bass drums mainly but I've exceptions where they use straight ones (rather than the more usual...

Re: The Tama/Camco drum pedal

Also have two bought way back in the mid-80s.

Still use them when not using my even older Camco pedal with an Ippolito chain drive.

Re: Camco original wrap

I'm slightly intrigued by the Bumwrap idea. If clothes can have perfect photographic repros in them then copying drum wrap should easy. And you'll only to tart one drum not four. Even if Bumwrap are...

Re: This is the Display Your Camco Drums Thread

Will post mine later. Have a couple of questions. Mr Ludwig, what's the deal with that throne. A repro, another brand or Camco?

And can those with original snare stands tell me the colour (or...

Vintage Naugahyde drum cases

This may seem really odd but I like the old-school American naugahyde (vinyl fake leather) cases, ideally just one size too big for my drums (easier to slip on and off). On the off chance does anyone...

Re: Camco L.A. restoration advice?

Great stuff. The bass drum t-rods are almost impossible to come by and extremely expensive when they do. I'd get yourself something workable in the short term and keep your eyes peeled. I picked up a...

Re: Restoring an LA Camco Kit

Dear Neats,

What Stedi said.

I has a 13", 14", 18" and 24" in the same finish (my first Camco kit). I stupidly stripped it back (this was in the days before they were "vintage") and regretted...

Re: Australian Collectors Group

DNO, sorry I don't. I'm kind of a Camco exclusivist so don't really have my eye on much else locally (or abroad for that matter). But I'd imagine the vintage show would be worth a visit if you...

Re: Grommet options

Yeah, I've been using the Ludwig style ones without issue. Even the Camco grommets sometimes slightly covered the lettering. And if they're late Oaklawn, Chanute or LA, they should be brass grommets.
