Re: Older guys

So cool to see so many guys who have helped me research and restore so many drums posting on one thread. I myself have almost completed my collection other than a few pieces to complete a set or two....

Re: Did Ludwig Ever Have A Catalog Kit in the 60's of 13, 14, 16, 18 24?

Thanks! Has anyone ever seen a 60's kit in a Pro Beat Config catalogued anywhere or would that have been a special order? I rarely see Keystone 24 Kicks and 18 inch Floors

Did Ludwig Ever Have A Catalog Kit in the 60's of 13, 14, 16, 18 24?

I recently met someone who is restoring a late 60's Keystone Badge kit in these sizes and I was trying to look up that configuration in the catalogs and couldn't find anything. Definitely sold as a...

Re: Help - Ludwig Gold Sparkle / Pearl - 60's?

The tom looks like a painted Ludwig from that interior shot. Hard to tell for sure from just the one pic though. Not sure about the wood snare but the metal one is a Rogers 380/360 made by Yamaha....

Re: Crazy Custom 16 inch Club Date Floor Tom Questions

It does have an edge but it looks flat from the angle and stain. It is a homemade stain job.

Crazy Custom 16 inch Club Date Floor Tom Questions

So I picked this drum up for $40 the other day hoping it was an Uber Rare 16 inch Club Date Floor Tom and of course it wasn't. I snagged it anyway because it has some cool vintage parts and still...

Slingerland?

Saw these pop up locally and was considering the purchase. The price is nice but there has obviously been some serious work done. What are you guys seeing here? Do you think the snare has been cut...

Re: Ludwig Standard Granitone Questions

Good point KC. The interior in that last pic you just posted looks like the same interior paint as my floor tom pictured. It's almost a flat matte grey versus granitone

Re: Ludwig Standard Granitone Questions

Yeah. The kit was born together and they are all Gold Strata Wrap. Definitely a mahogany interior on the kick. The kick was originally a granitone that matched the rack and snare. The more common...

Re: Ludwig Standard Granitone Questions

Thanks again KC. So it is a bit of an out lier that it has a mahogany interior. Has anyone refinished the interior of a Luddy standard and found a granitone paint that matched? or should I just leave...

Re: Ludwig Standard Gold Strata

Holy smokes! I think I sold you that project. Great job on the restoration! Looks fantastic. Love the inlay idea. I just recently scored another Gold Strata kit that I am going to hold on to and...

Re: Ludwig Standard Granitone Questions

Awesome info KC! Are all of the clear interiors maple? And are all the granitone interiors the same or are they varied?

Re: Ludwig Standard Granitone Questions

Anyone know what paint is a good match for the more widely used granitone on the 13 inch tom so I can use it to finish the kick?

Re: Ludwig Standard Granitone Questions

If I were to guess I would say the stamp is March 30th 1970. But seriously a guess!

Re: Ludwig Standard Granitone Questions

Kick is 18739
Floor Tom is 18756 Floor is date stamped but it is smudged. Year looks like 1970
Rack Tom is 18908
Snare is 16915.

Thanks KC!

Ludwig Standard Granitone Questions

I am restoring a Ludwig Standard Gold Strata kit and came across 2 different types of grey paint interiors. The 13 inch rack is more like the Granitone I have on my other Ludwig Standard from the...

Re: Fibes or ? Drum ID please

Thanks Green Glass. What about the shells? There are no badges anywhere. Triple flange hoops, the lugs and shell construction are all I have to go on. I agree the lugs look Fibes but I am wondering...

Fibes or ? Drum ID please

These came in a lot of old drums and parts I bought today. Lugs look like Fibes and the interior of the shell is a nice looking maple. Unfortunately they added extra holes into each drum for a...

Re: Cool Father's Day Score!

It's actually a Schwinn Breeze. Not sure the year but I would certainly guess 70's.

Re: Cool Father's Day Score!

Sounds like a cool ride Lucky! That Schwinn in the pic is a Breeze I nabbed for my wife. Really nice barely used shape as well. The 3 Snares that came with this are a Keystone Acrolite, Ludwig...

Re: Cool Father's Day Score!

Good eye on the Schwinn Lucky! Restoring old bikes was my old obsession before drums. Mainly 80's BMX stuff. Don't really hunt for bikes anymore but every now then I see an old ride like that Schwinn...
