Re: Vintage W&A Kit Restoration

Sorry if it was misunderstood and sorry I didn't look at what was going on harder.

I will...

Re: How to remove a drum badge?

I have used a counter sink (a good Bosch one with a hole, not flutes) and reamed the back of the grommet removing just enough metal so the "peened" area will fold straight and pulled it through the...

Re: P85 mod for straps instead of strings?

I would just buy a P-85 and sell the one you have (or swap) People in the vintage market want the throw-offs with holes for cord use.

Edit: I have a P-86 and the right butt plate for strap if you...

Re: Hayman "big Sound" / Ludwig "downbeat

That is a very tough question. A nice set of 60's Down Beats with the 4x14 snare go for about 2500-3000.

60's Down Beats with a Jazzfest in the 2K range, Supra 1500-1800

My numbers are...

Re: Future Vintage Drum Collectibles...

My .02 cents on future collectible drums. First, look at what the popular bands that have some staying power and what their drummer is playing.

Then, I would look at "Anniversary" kits... Gretsch,...

Club Dates are just sweet sounding drums. That's all there is to it.

Re: Has anyone re-covered using BOP

I did one back in the late 90's and I think the wrap then was better. Remember there was a period you couldn't get glass glitter because of some EPA stuff?

One trick is to paint the shells with a...

Re: 30's Luddies restored

Actually, the kit is gigged regurarly. A gent in Maumee Ohio owns them. I could have bought them lock stock and barrel in 2001 for a flat 1K. DOH I just didn't want or have the room for another...

1967 Camco's

Aristocrat's.... 22,12,12,16 with matching 5 x 14 snare. Great sounding drums except the snare. Way too ringy dingy for me and it is wood to boot! I sold these to the Camco guy (Mike @TRS) about 3 or...

Re: 1971 Ludwig Black Panthers

22,12,13,16 with Supra 400 is the original configuration. As to mounting a 14 and 15... you mean like a 14x14? No, I wouldn't, I would use the ISO feet or a RIMS basket. These are loud enough, I...

Best way to clean a satin flame finish is to use a product such as scrubbing bubbles spray cleaner. It get's down into the grooves and lifts the dirt right out. You may have to do it a couple of...
